i'd love to know how long RO filters would last trying to filter out 1 to 2EC nutrient water compared to tap or well water?I imagine a small RO filter should grab all the nutrients out of the water

i spent about $75 on a semi-decent one and once i saw how much grey water it made, i threw that POS in the trash. maybe i've been in colorado too long?? lolI'd love to have RO water, but the idea of wasting 3 gallons to get 1 just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe I've been in this damn desert too long.
Mine does about 1:1. A permeate pump and storage tank help.I'd love to have RO water, but the idea of wasting 3 gallons to get 1 just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe I've been in this damn desert too long.
what did the whole setup run roughly?Mine does about 1:1. A permeate pump and storage tank help.
You can do that and deal with the endless leaks or you can do it right with bulk heads the first time. I suggest 3in pvc with bulkheads to avoid your lines getting clogged up and it flooding your growspace.Plumb them all together with electrical conduit PVC fittings and washers or o-rings instead of purchasing expensive bulkheads, and save a small or large fortune by building your own system that way. Enough to probably to go on a vacation, lol.
You can run lines + rig up floats to keep the water level of the system/res in check, with or without an RO system, and even add nutrient\PH dosing systems and even pumps to auto drain for almost full automation. Depends on how fancy you wanna get.
The amount you save by plumbing your own containers together instead of forking out for some alien RDWC type kit could practically buy all the highest tech gear you need to automate it.
Honestly though, I wouldn't set up too sophisticated of a system in a rental with a killer landlord that could pop in any moment!
Shit, it's hard to say because I bought them all separately, years apart. I believe the stealth ro 150 was around 200. The permeate was like 50, along with the storage tank.what did the whole setup run roughly?
thanks! 1:1 wouldn't have been bad. but like fangthane said, seeing 4 parts go down the drain sucked.Shit, it's hard to say because I bought them all separately, years apart. I believe the stealth ro 150 was around 200. The permeate was like 50, along with the storage tank.
Never would have thought I'd come to miss something as simple as having a well. Not many of them around here, and a good percentage of the ones there are have uranium contamination. Can't wait to never see this place again.luckily my well water is still pretty awesome
where the hell are you if you dont mind me asking?Never would have thought I'd come to miss something as simple as having a well. Not many of them around here, and a good percentage of the ones there are have uranium contamination. Can't wait to never see this place again.
oh shit! if it's anything like Shiprock NM , that is bad. when we drove home from grand canyon, that might have been some of the poorest areas of teh US i've ever seen.I'm in northeastern AZ, AKA 'Merica's asshole.
I find other uses for some of the grey water, like the washing machine, thanks! 1:1 wouldn't have been bad. but like fangthane said, seeing 4 parts go down the drain sucked.

i do in the veg tent (2x2). a humid day here is above 30% . lol. once they get some biomass, then i'll eventually swithc to a dehueyDo you guys use humidifiers?
I'm less than 150 miles from Shiprock. If you took I 40, you passed within a mile or so of my house. This region is all kinds of fucked, on so many levels. If anything, I'm underselling just how much I despise this area.oh shit! if it's anything like Shiprock NM , that is bad. when we drove home from grand canyon, that might have been some of the poorest areas of teh US i've ever seen.
I'd bought a little cheapie from Amazon a few years back, but it only lasted maybe 18 months. I've pretty much accepted defeat in the humidity battle.Do you guys use humidifiers?

IIRC, on the way home , we kinda went the backroads . i remember following the navajo coal plant railroad tracks for miles and miles. and then we stopped at a burger king and that might have been the saddest place i've ever seen in this country. dirt poor doenst even begin to describeI'm less than 150 miles from Shiprock. I got this one on Amazon about 4 years ago. Still works great, but in the winter, I have to fill it twice a day. Kinda blows... lolI'm less than 150 miles from Shiprock.
