Defoliate vs didnt do jack vs lollipop

Sup RIU.

Was in another thread about why defoliation is such an at odds topic. I had mentioned I was doing a side by side by side comparison of the 3 styles. I will show some pics of begining of flower and document them going forward for all of us.

Some variables that probably will cause many to disqualify this grow are.... outdoor plants, not clones (all from seed from same mother) but pheno types will cause a conversation, and when they began to flower. Defoliated plant began flowering exactly 1 week after the other 2.

Here is 1st picture this here is 1 week ago when I did a major defoliation. I did not go insane, but its a large difference from natural.

From left to right.

Defoliated plant, Plant I didn't do shit but cut some bottom fan leaves to make watering easier for the middle one and the lollipop on the far right.


Defoliation was on the 14th. Next will be Sept 3rd.
Here is today same left to right.


Now some things I have already noticed.

The defoliated plant became very sensitive to nutrients. To the point where 15% of recommended value began burns. The other 2 took them like champions on 1st feed after defoliation. The second feeding on all went off without a hitch.

Both the defoliated and lollipop began showing nirtogen deficiencies as well while the didnt do shit plant seems perfectly fine. Gotta say I like how the lollipop is and the didn't do shit is budding. Which defoliate is to early for me to say if im a fan.

All were topped and LST thru veg, all went through the same bullshit element issues from being outdoors, and all have had the same nutes the entire time.

Soil recipe 420 soil, FF line of nutes, and lots of love.

All 3 are BC big bud

Yea I'm aware. I just wanted to do a controlled experiment. This isn't about what people think or know what is right or wrong. It is about bro sciencing the shit out of it with in a semi controlled environment.

What you would expect, my money is on lollipop but that didn't do shit one looks the best all-round and nicest. Brilliant comparisons and study.

Plant reserves are minimal and a defoliated plant cannot assimilate the pre defoliated nutrients as quick with less leaves. It could handle lollipoping which is less and the shaded lower but really doing shit keeps the balance just right. My 2¢

Personally I'm liking the tightness on nodes on lollipop but didn't do shit is looking nice as well.

As for now my money is on lollipop as well. Super tight nodes. But time will tell.

Makes sense btw on the nutes. I figured less plant matter meant less ability to handle it. Hence why I began at 15% of reccomended lol

You could just keep them at full strength for all, they should readjust back quickly after the shock, the lollipop and defoliated show slight deficiency.

The non defoliated ones still maximised the light better. Just good to see.

Some would think that the non defoliated one would have alot of yellowed leaves from lack of light getting to the bottom but it just isn't happening.

I'm not sure I could ever go with full strength from Fox Farms. I tried once and damn near killed my plants.

I mean you didn't have to reduce the feeds.

I think people are trying to make the whole plant bud by defoliating but all those extra leaves pump so much into the top buds when not I could never see that that produces more.

I see. Yea I was only at 40% of reccomended before flowering on all.

From the looks of things so far I think your right lol. But there is a 1 week difference in flowering time between the defoliated and the natural.

Only time will tell in this case but as for now it looks like you might be correct.
