We're talking about removing leafs yes?
I've only once removed leafs from the top of a plant (to let light in) but it didn't agree with the plant or I picked the wrong ones, when I've done screening I've removed loads of leaves but over a period.

When I looked at the votes I was a bit surprised at hell yes by a considerable margin, maybe I'm missing something?

So I've not voted yet as I'm not really clear on what I'm voting for, is it during the likes of screening or are we taking fan leaf removal?
Or neither of the above go back to your corner and read about it?

What I got from the vote was the question "Does this help anyone?" and I took that to mean does doing this experiment help anyone. That was my take on it anyway.

One is leave removal so direct light can get through to each end every bud.

The next is I havent done any type of technique for flowering at all.

The last one has the bottom 1/3rd taken out.

We are simply seeing which one grows best.

Dont know if this helps clear it up for you.

I would have said the none defoliated one, on the gamble that being outdoor with no airflow/light limitation would make it superior, as it has more leaves than plant 1 and more leaves+bud sites than plant 3.

But as you already brought up, they are not cuttings from the same mother so it's frustratingly flawed, although it will be fun to watch you progress. They all look very healthy.

Thanks very much for the clarification I can't comment but I'm interested in the results that'll be interesting

@Doug Dawson I'm not familiar with the lingo :dunce:

Don't sweat it, nobody knows anything until they learn it. The fact that you are here reading means you are open to learning. I would take a receptive person with no knowledge over a closed minded person who knows a ton. :peace:

I'm not at all sure, I know in other fields of horticulture the grower/farmer can manipulate increased yields, pruning apple and pear trees, cutting the trusses on tomato plants are just a few examples.
Going on my own experience with removing top leafs I'd expect the one with them removed to yeild the least but that is based purely on the one experience?
It'll be interesting!

My hunch on quality and the effect is that the defoliated might be the weakest THC level because of forcing it to redirect energy to reforming new leaves.

I have no scientific backing on that btw. Just what makes sense in my head. But im gonna find out if im wrong.

Il have the THC levels tested for us.

You know what...I’ll bet that the defoliate ones has slightly MORE thc because of the stress. This is gonna be super interesting.

Ya know what..... we do know certian strains do produce better with different stresses.

Now we really have a metric to look at that for me will tell me which is the best product. I'm gonna go with frosty and THC levels for what I consider to be best.

Considering I am gonna have all the weight regardless it is the least of my concerns lmao.

Thanks for doing this Experiment, I've just read through the whole thread and I'm really interested to see the results. I've used all 3 through the years and mixes, but have always wondered in a side by side how each one would do. Top Work, Cheers

I've only read as far that most stresses will either stunt growth or increase stretch rates. In terms of thc production the only thing I recall reading was that cob/led level ''light stress'' (not hps heat stress) or uv can increase thc. But I could well be confusing this with terp production.

I'm not trying to call you out, the opposite, do you have any specifics I can read into?.
