first time growing. Trimmed her up is what research lead too . Using humboldts county own purple maxx and crystal burst through flower . Should i keep using silica ?

The reason we defoliate is to allow light to better penetrate the canopy
The sun doesn't have an issue with that
Some trimming can be good for air movement
As far as going"overboard" maybe a bit but it will recover
