Defoliation all at once, or a little over time?

I'm considering doing a big defoliation now to purposefully slow their stretch because it's been just 2 weeks of flower and fuck these Pink Kush Indica dominant plant's have stretched A LOT, into the light in fact.

I didn't use a SCROG this time as I had planned because another member of this forum convinced me against it, but now I'm kind of stuck with probably still a week worth of stretch and they are already into the light. I have a scrog frame ready, I will just make sure to use it next time .. doh :(

Does anybody have any idea on how to possibly mount the light higher? These triangle brackets like in the pic keep it with almost a foot of space above it (and the hoods top is cool to the touch). If I could figure out a way to mount them higher I still have nearly a foot of clearance.

Connect the ratchet strap, yo-yo to the light directly for starters. I have topped upto week 3 of flower. Don't think it affected the bud beyond less leaves finished.

And they will stretch more if you just defoliate. Increasing food to the top.

Not too sure how you mean, there are 2 slots on each side that need to be balanced for the light to hang. I found some steel dowels lying around that seem to be holding, if not bending a little.

So are you saying NOT to defoliate so that they don't stretch more? I got them another 2-3" but that's not much, and they're only 2 weeks into flower.

Also I did fix the carabeener a the top after looking at this pic :)

That's not the same pic. Bend that to go over the support bar and hook the ends to hang the light close to the bar. If it's wood? Use a heavy duty coat hanger until chain can be purchased.

Yes defoliate. But you can still top with minimal set back. More clearance. If just defoliating it will stretch.

No it's not, I told you I found some steel dowels, which that's what I JUST came up with. Not sure what you mean :(

Hrm still ok to top? I guess if I have to, really dont want to top those big tall colas though but we'll see.
