tell you want I have 4 plants going into flower (12/12) on Sunday under 2 600w hps and I will be defoliation in the first week of flower
could some growers do a side by side grow with me and show me a better yielding plant which is not defoliation
I grow in soil and have height restrictions so I can only grow a plant 3ft high
so any growers up for the challenge
plants in soil, 3ft high and grown under a 600w hps
show us your plants and say if you defoliation or not
stop saying words and show us your results
I tried this once when i first started growing..Please believe me when i tell you to LEAVE THE LEAFS ALONE.They are your solar panels for your plant they produce and store sugars for the plant also this will also effect the taste if you take them off.You will reduce size smell and taste if you do it.

By the way OP I want you to go out in the woods and find the biggest stick you can carry and bring it back to me so I can hit you with it. Pulling leaves off to increase growth is just horse shit, if it worked everyone would be doing it, farmers too. Fuck John Deer would be selling equipment to do just that, rip the leaves of your plants for bigger and faster growth. WTF were you thinking?

Some leaf taken off give the plant more light in late flowering in a SOG grow's it's a awesome idle.
The good ( more weight ) out ways the bad, in late flowering stress is not as big a deal as it is in Veg up to the 4th week flowering thats when stress can kick your plants ass. I've been doing it for years with heavy rockhard lower flowers as a result.
I take off about half to 3/4's of the water leaf.

I've been defolicating threw mine an kittys last few grows. Including the odd dabble when we were doing the auto NLs an them results came out well.
But not everyone has the same setup.... Some growers hae better water ph than others. Some migt be growing under 1000 watt beasts, while others are orced to learn under mini CFLs until they can aford to upgrade. Or have the space.
Bottomline different growers prefer different methods.
I defolicate my autos fortnightly because I like allowing them lower popcorn sites to get some light. Even if they don't grow into 7zip monsters they still all add up when all the time an efforts been put into your plants.
I recall many peeps saying me growing under 125watt CFL would produce an 8th in a groom pretty much like a D60 or even a D90 groom size tent but that didn't stop, over. Zip coming out of each plant.
An while using defolications I've grown accustom to stripping them of their fan leafs mainly got the extra light exposurE to there lower sites for that extra bit of bud developement in the End.
I would like to see all you bigger growers do a picture side by side of a defolicated and a non defolicated grow so see just how different there endin weigh in comes to.
Hell even the defolication haters whichthis topics Brough many from the woodworks to give it a test run

I've read numerous people say they tried it and it didn't work as well as NOT doing it. And it's defoliation. If you have shitty lights and a shitty grow room, you have to do shitty things like stripping leaves. You people can try and justify it all you want, but that is the bottom line.

here's a simple explanation of what i believe is the best route. Defloliation is needed when plant count exceeds amount of space they should be in , in order to properly train them.
If things are properly planned out , defoliation is unnecessary because the trained plants will take up the appropriate amount of grow space. This is what you ultimately want because it means way less work, just feeding and tying.
when a plant is trained correctly to use up however much footprint / light depth there is, the oscillating fan will wiggle those fan leaves and all those lower bud sites still get light. The fan leaves are the best cause they really make sure that you're getting every bit of light possible, and on top of that the fan leaves act as an extra source of backup energy for when there are deficiencies, and the deficiencies no longer effect the buds but just the fan leaves. If a fan leave is 40-60% damaged i take it off, and i usually catch them before they fall off. I throw out any dead fan leaves so i don't attract extra bugs, and usually only the very bottom fan leaves die off. I try to give my plant enough N throughout all of flower but not a toxic amount, right on the border of about to yellow up towards the last few weeks and then a 2 day flush cause it's coco

I have been doing perpetual grows for the last 7 years and the last 3 years it have been all about topping, lst, defoliation and scrog, finding the best way to get the that extra yield from my crop.
can you put some pictures up and prove your point, I have just done a lot of grows, all about trial and error
but if you have a better way show me with picture (your grow) and words, but at the same time if you fill I get better results than you, give my way a try

I don't know they must have disappeared right?! Where'd all the auxins and nutrients go?!?! Will they ever come back?! That's a pic of a nutrient hog and light blocker. Are you mistaken defoliating with the final trimming? I dont cut every leaf off lol. Defoliating allows more air flow, less shade, and stresses the plant to the point in which she wants to "hurry up and flower cuz the clock is ticking" before I die. I've done SOG, SCROG, top this, FIM that, bend that, DWC, DTW, organics why...cuz I LOVE to experiment and I'm OPEN minded. Just because a grow method works does that mean you should stick with it or try to continuously improve? Point being there are many growth methods, lighting, training, blah blah blah...TO EACH HIS OWN!!! If you don't like the idea than shoo fly. Don't knock it till ya try it. I'm not on your grow threads bashing your 5 node 5' veg plants.

Good For You! 1 gram per cfl? 23 watts to produce a gram, well I hope their 23 waters? I think you need to research this technique a little because with those numbers trying something new can't hurt!
Then you are either bias or using bad technique, well there maybe is a third...you grow outdoors or is your experience from outdoor grows? There is no way that PROPER defoliation on an indoor plant will produce less then a naturally overgrown plant in our types of environment. Its that simple if you are not increasing bud size or quantity then you are not defoliating, your just ripping leaves off. JAS

You could be right that I was not defoliating correctly....it was my first couple of grows and I did a ton of things wrong. I was getting just over an ounce a plant.
Here's some of my recent harvest. I don't know if you'll be able to see the buds through all those damn leaves.
I only pulled yellow leaves off...which were few.
And I get very few popcorn buds:

i dont get hermies that often i ussualy know the plant very well shhhhhh this isnt my first rodeo shhhhhhhhh!!!!! lolz i usaualy know my plants i test the high nutrient on them if a kush if they react fine i leave it like that you see this stress brings on extra weight and thier for if you have a light or two you will get this growth called CROWNING OR CASTLES that are protudeing form the nug with this extra wieght if you do the math that could be the diffrence between 1 elbow a light 2 elbows a light 2.25 an elbow a light i have goten 2.25 a light ask the swindler on hear or his jozikins.. its all the combination of the room it has to go down perfect..

idon't defoliate and i don't have those problems. Those are serious issues, why not fix them?

pic that has a perfect example of crowning or castles that their is crowned like a true queen or a freeking castle when you think your bud is done it realy still has potential for a bit a spert if you take the bottom off and leave a foot two foot so that it takes the 3 feet of light you should be at least one foot and a half from the light check with arm if it burns then your to close.. but what isnt beeing kept alive on the bottom your plant will put on the top the extra wieght i got alot of theories but my method works and i have come to it with experiments from the red mylar to dirt, coco, and flood tables to aroe i go with what works i do go agents the flow of water i was born this way i cant help to to put it to the test and all my tricks more than half have been by trial and eror.. MY ROOM IS HIGH TECH GEE.. SUPPER HIGH TECH!!!ohhh hooo hoooo i almost posted my tricks on t.v. no way home slice i given enough info already that castled bud was the goji og.. but one day ill post and one day it will blow your wig right off if you seen the room its so controled its asome... one day my friend today is enough of the lessons please becare full dont do my method if you arent ready to loose because you will fail many times over before you get it write.. please only atempt if you are skilled.
