Dehumidifier causing wild fluctuations

I had to buy 80 mm fans to refurbish my lights... homeostasis regained! boy can they push air!

Good shit.
That's a lot like the ducting. I've just been cutting the holes between each node facing in toward the middle of the tent.

My issue is trying to push less air out of the tent. My house ambient is 65 RH or higher most of the time (working on that) so I'm trying to get as close to exactly replacing the air every 4-5 minutes to take some of the load off my dehumidifier.

So I applied a simple moving average to that graph to make it easier to look at/track changes. Even with that you can see the point where it starts to normalize after the changes I made yesterday. Going to try to expand the holes in my ducting once the lights come back on to lower the exhaust a little more and then I think it will be solid for now.

Decided to bite the bullet. Bought a "Terrabloom" 6 inch fan to replace my current one. The big benefits to this:

My fan does "min-max" power (maybe 50-60% is minimum). Super cheap and noisy fan ~60 on amazon.

Terrabloom Fan- 0-100% power control. Has remote controller for fan speed separate from power. Has alternate connection for this remote controller to go to 4 pins instead of a knob (can be integrated into home assistant/connected to my raspberry pi eventually). I have the 4" version of this fan in my veg tent and it has NO noise issues. Anything under 80% power is barely heard unless right next to the unit. $100 on amazon (was going to get the AC infinity cloudline but IDK if it has the same level of DIY support & it's more expensive & I have experience with this brand)

So
No drain near my grow space so I needed a unit with higher capacity. The heat isn't fluctuating all that much, it's the humidity- spiking from 45-60 in a matter of a few minutes.

Going over my design, I think part of the "fluctuations" I'm seeing is that the intake for the dehumidifier is below the canopy where humidity is higher and the air is cooler. When the unit turns on at first it sucks in and circulates that damp air before kicking in. I'm going to try adding another fan below canopy.
Humidity is higher below the canopy? Humidity rises because its less dense than air is what i read last night. Im wondering if i should hang my 2 dehu above or leave on ground. I have 1 up and one down right now and i dont have the control that i want.

It's not about humidity itself moving. Relative humidity rises as the temps drop and it's cooler under the nice thick canopy. A better way for me to phrase that would have been I need to increase circulation underneath to prevent a temp/humidity differential in my tent.

Just do some observations- stick a temp/humidity sensor above and one below your canopy and see what it looks like.

You are right that dry air is actually denser than humid air though... but this isn't a static system, air is constantly flowing from a number of sources so it's not quite that simple.

No kidding huh. Guess i was looking for a quick answer to something i could figure out by placment of hygrometers.. Lol thx i think my trol master probe is like 1-2 lower than the hygrometer sitting on a bucket. With my space the fans being on the walls the middle isnt getting as much air movment. I ned to get air distribution sok for my ac units.

Well i put the other dehu up in the air judt about have bottom of dehu level with bottom of lights which is just over my ac comin in. Rocked 45 lights off and under 50 lights on. Put a fan blowing on floow between each system. Holding steady. One thing that i found weird is when i backed ac off a little to get a little warmer it brought humidity up quich but when i put ac back and turned lights up to 115 the temp went up and humidity down.

Interesting that having the AC off brought it up that quick. I could see the other (temp going up and humidity dropping making sense).... it's reading relative humidity so if the total amount of water didn't change but the temp improved the relative humidity would read lower (since the max the air could hold is higher)...

Jealous of the space, it's legal for medical in my state but coming up with the startup capital is a PITA for a commercial grow
My father in law put the money up. Then passed away right before i got plants in it. ( RIP Mark Anschutz)

They transpire an extreme amount in rdwc. Especially when vpd is dialed in. Im going thru. 40 gal of nutes a day

What emitters are you using? I've actually done hand watering this whole time but for ~12-14 plants it's not that bad...looking to do a drip irrigation setup finally though.

I started down the route of the "Hydro Halos" but the 6" ones are out of stock basically everywhere reputable I could find.

Thinking just doing two emitters per 5 gallon cloth pot... I could run the pump to a smart switch and control the whole thing through Home Assistant.

Emmiters? Im using current culture 32site 8gallon systems
