Bad news for Hillary. She's getting her ass kicked in fund raising by none other than Jeb Bush; whose brother won the presidency twice, pretty much because he had way more contributions than his opponents.

This is bittersweet for me. I can't stand Hillary, but I can't stand Jeb Bush either.

I read a political article earlier in the week that suggested the time is right for Joe Biden to announce his candidacy; Hillary is falling, and the republicans act as if they are all characters in "The Lord of the Flies".

But I can't stand Biden either...

Hillary has never won a contested election. She beat two doormats to become/remain a New York senator, then she lost a democratic presidential election that she was heavily favored to win.

She started off as a republican, campaigning for proto-libertarian Barry Goldwater in '64. Her views were none other than anticommunism and opposition to civil rights.

Only 16 months to go 'till elections. It is really starting to get exciting.

so when is george w gonna start campaigning for his brother?

good luck.

Hopefully soon, so Jeb will get hammered by a better candidate; but there's not one on the repub side. They're all bad.

Bernie, where are you? You've proved you can fill college auditoriums with young people, but you have only 17% of the democratic vote right now. Get to work and beat Hillary.

Yes. Her personal creed was "mind conservative and heart liberal". She later changed her views on civil rights, and it was the veiled racism she perceived in Nixon's words which led her to become a democrat. Republicans were openly racist while the democrats hid it back then, but just about all the politicians were racist. It's just that the Dems were after the minority votes and pubs were courting the bigots.

That kinda meshes with the "inside reports" of Obama's opinion of her. Supposedly (that + 25 cents), Obama is afraid she will compromise with republicans and undo some of his accomplishments. That would kinda mesh with her roots as at least a partial republican mindset.

She would be a successful republican if the facts of her career were presented in that way. I think it would even be good for the GOP, she could even sweep it.

And she was somehow involved in the legal process during Watergate, adamant against Nixon. I've read every fucking book on Watergate ever published, so I'm kinda angry I can't remember her exact role. But I remember reading that she was of the opinion that Nixon did not deserve the right of lawyer in some capacity that shocked me.

She was born in 47. That would have made her less than 25 years old. 24 year olds constantly say retarded crap, but their ideas are at that time being solidified.

Wow. Then maybe I'd better re-familiarize myself with her current campaign stances. I might be surprised.

Wow. She was a law school graduate and had advanced as a lawyer far enough at 25 to have played a non-trivial role in the Watergate saga. Pretty impressive.

Consider also what Bill Clinton actually accomplished in office as a lasting legacy. It should appeal to republicans. I think the only reason it doesn't is blind partisanship.

He balanced the budget by gutting social security.
He repealed Glass Steagall, allowing trade of derivatives.
He could have cut the pentagon budget, as the cold war had just ended, but instead he postured the military.
He pushed NAFTA through, don't ya'll love "free trade"?

Yeah, I agree that he was a good president in terms of budget and spending. He even impressed my dad in that regard, and my dad was a staunch republican conservative.

He was always respectful of Bush Sr., and was always cordial with Bush W.

Minus the Lewinsky thing, he would have a lot of my respect. Not that he already doesn't have some...
