Describe the different odors of pot

i always have a difficult time describing some odors. i usually end us saying, i can't describe how it smells. this annoys me!

i have peppery; lemony; spicy; sweet; skunky; flowery... a few more i can't think of for some reason or other :joint:

but then i kind of lose the ability to describe some of the odors.

what are some words you use to describe some of the odors you encounter while growing or just smelling a bag full of good reefer. i need to expand my vocabulary.

Skunky, fruity, citrous, floral, earthy, minty, fule, cedar(y) or woodsy, peppery, cheesy, chocolatey, farmyard, bright, grassy, licorice, musky, oaky, cat piss/shit, vomitous.. are some I've used to describe many of the subtle aromatics of cannabis

skunky, pugent, smack-you-in-the-face, green (grassy), sweet, earthy, lemony, minty, puke, cat piss, anything that comes to mind bro. but my favorite if fruity/minty

I'm growing two different bagseed strains right now, seven plants total in their fifth week of flower.

I have three of one strain that all smell kind of like a forest(if that makes sense) until you get your nose right up close and take a big whiff... then they remind me of my cat's litter box, in varying degrees. I hope it tastes better than it smells.

The other strain varies. Two of them smell a little like Juicy Fruit chewing gum, one has a spicy/musky smell, and one just has a really strong grassy/vegetation smell. I think I just have two different phenos of this one going and the grassy smelling one will be like the spice/musk smelling one when done. They look a lot alike too.

I've never been keen to the different smells. I always grew one strain at a time before, and bag weed smells like... weed. It's either strong smelling or not, and I've never bothered past that. With these though, after spending so much time with them, you could blind fold me and set one of them right in front of me and I could tell you which of the seven plants it is.

I'll have to agree with the 'smack-you-in-the-face' ^^

Moldy, medicine, fresh, tropical, freshly cut wood-ish, gassy, metallic.

A current G13 x Haze grow is giving off a mix of metallic / medicine / smack-you-in-the-face :joint:

neem oil

yack yack yack

ive smoked some buds i got from my bud that i had to give back for that very reason

i opened the bag and got that seedy neemy smell and im like did this mother fucker leave the buds in it to cure or something

and i cracked em open and the smell was still their just not as strong smoked like .05 of a g like snipping of bud for taste to be absolutly sure it was neemed

and damn near puked cause of the taste

so ACK to neem

great stuff otherwise :D

in just the past year i have come across smells on growing plants that range from tooth decay to turkey legs. sometimes sweeter smelling herb reminds me of the smell of brand new athletic shoes or weak smelling cinnamon buns lol.

if weed is cured with too many dead leaves on it it takes on a smell similar to tea leaves until it's ground up.

i love how the smell of a plant changes as it matures, and then the finished cured product can take on a new smell entirely.

I have an inability to describe most smells, sweet or spicy is pretty much my limit :D Unless one comes along with a really distinct smell, at which point i won't be able to put a name on it until told, and then i'll slap myself in the face for not having known :p

Nice idea for a thread. I have noticed my plants will smell different at different times during the grow. I have not grown much but I get a lot of that "lemon turpentine" smell during the grow

that's pretty cool. thanks!

a bunch of really good words guys! thanks! they will come in handy!

Thanks for the wheel Tip Top, had not seen that one before, very good info.
I personally love how the aroma changes over time. With a proper cure the
aroma seems to go through many phases, mostly for the better depending
on the strain's your growing at the time.
