Designing a new LED Grow Light

I have been reading alot on the UFO and the Tri-band, the color spectrum and on and on to the point I think I'm mixing the info.....

So my question to everyone else if you designed your own led light what colors would you have in it?

5mm Red 12,000mcd 620~630
5mm Orange 12,000mcd 600~605
5mm Blue 12,000mcd 465~470

I know blue really needs 450...

What about

5mm Yellow 12,000mcd 585~595
or
5mm White 20,000mcd N/A
5mm Warm White 13,000mcd N/A

Any other colors?

What about strobe'ing between red/blue/and white?

Designing it in a circle / square / rectangle? another pattern?

Thank you for your help.

no offense but personally i would not use LEDs. Sure they might work, but CFL and T5 are tested and work and are much easier to use. i know that there is a chart of the color spectrum needed by mj plants i cant remember which spectrum were needed though sorry

i have to agree with b1izzard use cfl`s or hids instead of leds! leds might peak your intrest for the moment but do you really want to wreak your brain trying to figure that shit out! just stick with what works! you know

I can't agree with those saying that leds don't work on mj. Some leds work for crap like the UFO (useless fucking object) and those cheapo panels, but a few do. I know cos I tried them all.

I don't know about your DIY led itself as I ain't a tech guy. I bought and tested the lights out there, threw the shit in the garbage that didn't work and then stuck with the one that worked.

You should check out www.greenpinelane.com where there are some DIY threads on building LEDs. They also have tested all the available LEDs out there and really the only one that replaces our hids is the Smartlamp 600 which I am now using to replace all my lights.

What makes the difference between the crap and these lights is the high power leds and the fact that they got ultra violet and infra red leds in there. Anyway, they are giving me a bit more or the same yield as before with a better quality for all my medical weed clients which is great.

I know there is a lot of hype and bullshit out there, but there's a bunch of us medical growers here in San Fran that have started using these Smartlamp 600 lights with some great results and practically no heat.

Best of luck to ya.
