Did I dry too long?

Hey everyone. I hung all my branches in a dark tent with small fan and exhaust on for 5-6 days at 18-20c and 50-55% rh.

My jars read around 61-62% in jars after 24 hours in jars. They have only been in jars almost 2 days now.

The buds feel dry on the outside buy very dense sponge like feeling inside.

Did I dry too long?
How often should I be burping the jars?

You did OK, putting a fan directly isn't recommended but they are supposed to feel dry outside and wet or damp inside. Curing draws the inner moisture out and for getting rid of the "green grass" taste. Develops taste and aroma. Are you "burping" the jars? If you don't the buds may begin to mold.

I burped them once yesterday for a couple minutes. I just dont know how often to burp them now.

I thought i over dried them because i missed the inital regualar burping down from 70% to under 65%. Now my jars seem to be sitting around 62% RH. But have only been in jars almost 2 days. Any advice is appreicated!

ps. i didnt aim the fan directly at the buds when hang drying.

You seem to be well on your way.
The burping is more to release moist from the jar and let fresh (dry) air in.

In the harvest and curing section, one of the top stickies is a perfect cure every time by far one of the best approaches to curing.

If you used the fan to circulate the air in the tent, that would only make the whole process more refined, I woudlnt worry.

My question is since i missed the inital burping stage and caught it before it dropped under 60% RH in the jars, will i still get a proper cure (the proper dank smell/taste)?

Also since the RH is under 65% should I only be burping once a week or everyday still? I dont want the bud to dry out to much and not cure properly

leave to cure...you only burp to let moisture out and get it to that cure zone, if you burp now you will only go past the cure zone defeating the whole point of putting them in jars

If you have the sensors in the jar, you would have to burp if it reaches above a certain % humidity (read a perfect cure every time opening post for values)

I have been reading a lot of different methods of how to get the proper cure. I know that when you start out you are usually supposed to be between 65 to 70% when you first put them in the jars and slowly bring the humidity down to the 60-65% range by burping it daily. MY problem is that when I first chopped down the buds and put them into the jars my humidity was already reading between the 60-65% range (about 62 to be exact). Once the buds are in the 60 to 65% range I have read that the buds are doing the actual cure and that they should be burped only once a week for moisture and gas releasing purposes or if there is excess moisture in the jar. Because I seem to have accidentally skipped over the first 65-70% range my question is....

Should I be buring daily because it is still only the first two days OR should I be burping only once a week type thing so that my humidity does not drop too low into the 55-60% range (for long term storage) and my buds can get a proper cure. I want to have a good cure but I am really worried about how often to be burping in this situation...please help!

Thank you. Getting out of that zone was exactly what I am worried about. Should I be burping maybe once a week?

My only other thing I am worried about is that I may get mold from leaving it sealed for a week at a time. Is this something I should be watching for in the 60 to 65% range or am I fairly safe because it is out of the 65 to 70%?

Sorry for all the questions but thanks a lot for all the responses guys!

I did read this forum earlier today but I don't see where it explains how often to be burping in the 60 to 65% range. I know I want to keep it there long as possible and what not but I do not know how to avoid mold and keep the humidity between 60-65% at the same time.

I am trying to stick to a perfect cure everytime. By this should I keep the jars sealed for atleast a few days or burp quickly everyday? Sorry for the confusion, really dont want to screw all this up!

just stick to one thread if you take advice of every different thread there is you will get it wrong...
There is so many things out there to follow which is why I explained somewhat what I am following but for certain details I want people's personal opinion of what works. You said I should leave it to cure which makes sense to me but in your opinion would you be not burping it at all until you are ready to smoke it? or did you mean that you leave to cure for say a week at a time and burp for a few minutes and continue like that?

it clearly says if you are at 60% rh then your product can be stored up to 3 months without chances of mold, it also says if you are going to store for a long period you have to give it 4-5 days for an accurate

reading. i just got that of the thread read it again all your answers are there

Yes obviously I can read what it says but my bud is not at the long term storage range (55 to 60 %) so that does not apply whatsoever yet. I am wondering how long to leave in the jar before burping during the cure not storage. If you dont have the answer for me than thats fine I was simply asking your opinion based off of your own personal experience.
