Did I FIM Incorrectly

I have always just topped my plants, figured I would try to FIM this one this time but I think I might have fucked up.

I attached pics of the last few days, looks like I just uh cut all the leaves of the new growing shoot ... did I not take enough off? Or is this what it's supposed to look like? (I doubt it).

Would it just be best to just top this new growth, or leave it, too much stress? Any advice please, I dunno what to do or if I did it incorrectly.

yeah you didn't take enough. just gave the leaves a trim. at this point i would probably top it personally. maybe wait for some other opinions

Nothing to loose by trimming the leaves a little farther down.

fimming correctly is topping incorrectly....you're doing one or the other....if you leave a little, that's fimming, if you take it all down to the node, that's topping.
