Did I screw up my LST? Please help.

My first grow and trying out lst. I got some of the garden ties to help secure them but it seems the whole stem started to bend from the base. Is this normal? Will it be okay to continue like this?

As long as it didn't snap or break it's fine. You might consider anchoring the plant on the opposite side of the bend. Tie(anchor) the stem to one side of the pot. Then pull (lst) against that anchor to form a better bend.
