Difference in Nutrients

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding nutrients. I hear many conflicting opinions regarding advanced nutrients and whether they are worth the money. I currently use a general fertilizer like Peter's 20-20-20 and another type similar to that for flowering 10-30-20. Although I have had good results so far I am of course striving for better. Can anyone guide me in the right direction? Should I stay with what is working or should I look into other options. The strand I use is California Orange.

Thanks in advance for the replies

I currently use Alaska fish fert and morbloom, and have used earth juice in the past. Seem to be great ferts, cept they drop the PH like a mofo. Since losing weight to having MG def due to the low PH, i now add lime to the soil b4 planting at a rate of 2tsp/gal or 1C/CF and this seems to be getting the job done, and i dont have to worry about PHing the water. With stuff like FF i believe all their stuff is already PHd and they even have feeding schedules n whatnot, so i guess thats wat u pay for. I do use FFHF tho.

If what your using is working, id say stay there, but u might also b losing out on more bud production. Ultimately it depends on what werks in ur situation

I haven't had any problems with PH shifting since I use new pro mix each grow. I tried re-using pro mix after a grow and my growth was slower and I did experience some problems with the PH, however, I solved it with a mixture of hydrated lime and dolomite lime. On the bag of pro mix it says that lime is included in the mixture so I don't add any.

Your point about missing out on production is what I am concerned about. These basic fertilizers are exactly that; basic. They are very simple to use which is good if its your first time through but now that I've done this a number of times I'm looking to improve. If anyone has any experience in this area feel free to chime in! Thanks for the response so far, its appreciated.

Seems that a lot of people are looking into switching up their nutes lately. Personally, I think you should try out the Advanced Nutrients line.

And here's why.

One of the things that makes me a little nervous in your question is the high levels of P in those nutes. While I know a lot of growers are promoting this, P is actually a really carcinogenic mineral, one that you shouldn't use too much of in any plant you might smoke.

P is also something that plants don't need a lot of, especially in some of the dosages I've seen people use. You can actually get away with a lot less, and get cleaner burning smoke. The joints don't go out quick and to me, this smoke just seems healthier, which is ideal if you're interested in MMJ.

Just overall, I've seen a lot of good results with Advanced Nutrients:

faster growth
taller plants
better crystals
better taste:bigjoint:
bigger leaves

But I don't want to talk your ear off, okay? Just think about whether you want a bunch of P in your smoke or not.

I mean, I do enough things wrong in my diet and non-existent exercise program, so I'm not going to add anything else that might cause cancer, like P

Best of luck...;-)

Never used AN, but I've used Earth Juice and Fox Farms and had gotten good results out of both.

A lot of people are talking about House & Garden brand but I've got no experience with it.
