different types of hps bulb

i am just curious if it makes that much of a difference what type of hps bulb you use. I was thinking of going just for a standard cheaper bulb but they have those hortilux bulbs and all that stuff that are much more expensive.

basically what I am saying is: is it worth it to invest in a better quality bulb?

I'm not sure but I do want to try the hortilux when I have a few extra bucks. The guys at my hydro store swear by them...

well they have an equivielent that htg sells not near as much as the hortulx but the difference is the differnt bulbs have more lumes and more blue spectrum have used both enhanced spectrum is the way to plus 5000 extra lumes who can turn down for the same wattage

I find that a "few" extra lumens don't really make all that much difference in overall volume of yield. If that's what is important to you - go with the "cheap" ones.

Some of the more expensive bulbs specify that they have about 30%, or so, extra "blue light" added to their spctrum. These extended spectrum, HPS lights produce buds that are less stretched or "puffy" - "denser" if you will! If the appearance of the bud is important to you - go with the "expensive" ones
