Different ways of mounting a 400w hps

I was wondering if it is logical to mount a hps on a 45 degree angle, while rotating pots daily. Has anyone had success with a single 400w hps.

The reason why i ask is because im in a insulated, ventilated, and thermostat controlled attic, with a height of 4 ft, so i need to maximize height.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the fast reply bud, i'm really limited in vertical space. I dont exactly wanna go with lowriders cause they autoflower and i wanna clone, and select for the best genetic. I plan on starting with 3 or 4 mother plants (probably Barney's Farm LSD) in 3 gallon grow bags. I plan on mounting them vertical at first but once i start training my plant (using ties to bend branches at a 45) then the lights will strike the branches at a 45 stimulating side growth? lol im just guessing fellows. If i mount horizontal I must scrog the mother plants and keep cutting clones untill i have about 8-10 plants then i will flower my plants horizontally by rotating all the pots/bags daily. Do you guys think this idea will work or have i been smoking too much while planning the grow.

Damn man 4ft is nothing to grow in. Atleast vertically of course. Well Im using a 400w HPS Sun System. I got it from a guy on Craigslist and didn't realize just how heavy this thing was. Turns out it was too heavy to hang in my grow tent so i went with setting it ontop of something on the side and it grew good still. A few times I docked it at a 45 degree angle, but during this time I would rotate it every few hours. This is my 1st grow so im not too familiar with what is considered fast growth or not but it was good enough for me. I would pack on a set of leaves everyday. I didn't LST or anything just because i knew one day i'd get a lighter one to replace it.

If you had pictures I could better help you on how to set everything up or possibly give you some ideas, but if im picturing it right you should be fine.

check my lady out n let me know what you think.

If your curious what equipment i currently have: google HTG supply then click on the complete soil grow kit. it comes with reflectors, adjustable hangers and all.

Everything will be covered with mylar in a few days, and I will install my carbon filter. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the lamp hood. The grow bags are 7.5" tall and the reflector is 6" tall. so that leave me with about two feet of growth if everything is mounted horizontally. That's not gonna happen lol. There are plenty of experienced people here that have probably experimented with different lighting options. as far as i hear people get good results with vertically mounting and using a scrog.
