digital ballast problem hps mh

I'm having a problem with mith my new digital ballasts. (well not exactly new but they are only 6 months old) my ballasts are 1000w now they work with my mh's from plantmax. but i bought 1000w hps from plantmax from both but they won't light up. One worked for a while but will not work anymore it lit up for maybe 3 days but i hit ran into the light gave it a little smack and now either hps wont work on my digital bulbs. They show a small light for maybe 2 seconds but then turns off. i put in my mh's and they work fine. I tried plugging the hps in to my old magnetic balast but they won't light up in there either. has anyone heard of this problem?

Is the ballast for mh and hps? Some are only for one or the other i think.

yah, i thought that all digitals worked with both mh and hps.. never heard of this issue.. but your saying that the hps won't work in your other ballast now either right? sounds like something happened to your hps bulbs.. i would try a new bulb if that is the case.. and i was just looking into getting some brand that is made specifically for digital ballast like digilux or some other like brand..

WE dont like digital ballasts very much. I have heard many complaints. I believe they may be the future, but for now...still too many bugs to work out. If the ballasts say they are for both mh and hps, there should be a switch that says mh/hps. MH and HPS bulbs have different operating requirements in starting and operating voltages. Google the manufacturers website and read the data about your ballast. Dont believe everything your friends or your grow store tells you. Look it up yourself to be sure ! Good luck thegrowschool.com

yeah perhaps i should have opted for the one hortilux bulb at 120. instead of the two plantmax bulbs@ 60 bucks a pop. maybe ill get an exchange we'll see
