I was in your same boat couple years ago lost 3 grows in my nft tubs to root rot n reservoir overheating(lack of oxygen) , the mrs moaning about all money going into room n was about to give up , the next grow I sterlized everything
(tubs, hydroton, equipment) with 35%h202(hydrogen peroxide) increased air pump n airstones size and started using canazyme and rhizotonic great products
My wife's pissed at me too for the money I put into it. And what I got back was not even a small fraction. Next run better be worth it or I think I'm done. Im trying half soil and half hydro next run. Maybe soil will be more forgiving for me.

Next run I will do 2 air stoned per bucket instead of 1 each like I did this time. Maybe double the bubbles might help. That and not chopping at 8 weeks might help when I knew they were not ready but my buds weren't getting any bigger. I kept finding more seeds instead so I said fuck it and ended the grow so I could start over. This time I will get a start without root rot and not make same mistakes again

I'm going to use good soil, pro mix. But bugs still happen in soil so I'm not looking forward to that. I like my hydro set up cuz its bug free. I just do single 5 gallon buckets in Dwc. Never tried anything else

My blueblab Meter measures water temp, ppm, ec, and ph. It's an all in one Meter. I have 2 general hydroponics air pumps. 4 sites each.

I think I may have transplanted wrong at the beginning also. My roots were OK but could of been better also.

I used to be a hydro guy, loved it. But it's so much easier to lose a hydro crop than a soil crop.

Let's say hydro yields 20% "more" (I dont really agree) if you lose 1 out of 5 harvests that's a big problem. Hydro costs WAY MORE to do.

I've pulled over 800 dry grams from a soil plant, never personally done that with hydro.

Costs me less than 20$ in nutrients to pull a lb.
You dont need super soil lololol
Recycle your dirt!
Dirt is so much simpler, it's almost hard to mess up. I use mostly just tap water in veg, nutes every few waterings, synthetic nutes an some organic addatives if I want.
Soil is so forgiving... no ppm worries, no ph worries... I use dry powdered nutrients and it's just "2 scoops per 5 gallons" cant get easier than that.

Also I'd swear by the cana benificals ,canazyme for decomposition of dead roots plant mater in reservoir .rhizotonic is a good root enhancer

I'm starting with rooted clones this run as well. From a friend who's helping me get going again so I don't got to wait weeks to a month for foreign seeds.

Get the good bacteria in there in mass so the bad 1s got no room
I'm not worried about root rot. I got that on my seedlings and never after that . H202 killed it and hydroguard kept it away the rest of the grow. I let water temps get to hot in my house before I moved them to the basement where they loved it cuz the cool floors kept water temps in check for me without the need of chillers
