Disguising one or two potted plants in the backyard?

I'm a prop 215 card holder in Cali and I have 4 Autos I just started indoors, and I'm looking to grow one or two small potted Autos outdoors in my backyard as well. It's completely legal for me to grow these in my backyard here, but for a variety of fairly obvious reasons I really don't want to advertise that I'm growing MJ to the neighbors around me that have a full view of my backyard from their 2nd story windows.

My question is this.... is there anything I can cover the plants with, like some sort of netting, that will keep them disguised from a distance of 30+ feet, but will allow them to grow normally? I'm not interested in elaborate fancy solutions that involve building anything.

Please just stick to addressing the question, I really don't want to go off on tangents about why I'm growing any of them outdoors, or the time of year, or the strains, or the reasons for wanting to hide them when it's legal to grow them, etc. etc.. I'm sure somebody still won't be able to resist the temptation to go off topic.

I know of a few people using , tho i have no experience with them personally, these shade nets. its kind of like a green mesh netting and they're rated by the different amounts of light they allow through. Wish i could be more descriptive but as long that you know there is something out there which fits nicely with what youre describing. Peace and good luck!

Thanks. I'll try searching for something like plant netting and see if I can find what I'm envisioning. I'm sure I can't be the only person who's needed or used something like this, so hopefully someone will come along and know exactly what I need. Not looking for something that will make the plants blend in from the air or anything like that, just something that will keep people in neighboring houses from being able to tell what kind of plant is under the netting. Won't even be an issue until they're well into flowering, since the nearest window is probably at least 50 feet away from the center of my backyard and these are small Autos.

The shade cloth is a great idea. But even if your neighbors were to see a few plants here or there, unless you are doing a massive grow the chances of burglary are pretty low. My advice is to use the shade cloth and get a rottweiler. Ill find a link to a shade cloth grow wait a sec.........

Have you considered putting them inside and growing strains that aren't autoflower?

no problem bud. I am on the east coast, so I can understand wanting to keep things hidden. Do you have a flower garden by chance? I like spider flowers AKA "Cleome Spider Flowers". You can hide cannabis very well inside a patch of these. Google "cleome" and you'll see what I mean, they even have a nice semi-cannabis odor! +rep to you too

I do appreciate the link, but I checked it out and it's really nothing more than a blocked off area of the backyard with a tarp around it. Not very subtle or pretty, and definitely not what I'm looking for, unless there was a link somewhere within that thread that I missed..? I'm envisioning some sort of thin netting that I can drape over the plants which will let most of the light through, but will camouflage them enough that somebody wouldn't be able to tell what they were unless they were in close proximity. I'm sure there must be something out there like that.

I was just showing you what a shade cloth looked like. I personally hide mine among similar looking plants. I think shading a cannabis plant is a bad idea that will drastically cut back your yield of medicine. But if there is one thing you will learn on this forum it is "to each his own"

Actually I do have a basic flower garden along the side of the house, but it just doesn't get enough light for it to be a good location for my plants, especially the Autos which really want as much light each day as they can get. If it was in a different location I'd definitely plant my girls there. Too late in the year for Photo-period, and I already have the Auto seeds (again though, really don't want to get off on this tangent). Thanks again

For sure. Like I said, I do appreciate the input. Hopefully I can find what I'm looking for that will work for my space.

dude ur growing autos... stop stressing. every pic i ever seen of an auto was a baby (which is why i would never grow em). i would just say fuck it, i mean whos gonna really try to go snatch up some little ass plants, i know i wouldnt. i know this isnt the greatest advice for u but if u dont want to construct something like that dude did in the link above then i dont know what to say. shade cloth or other plants are the only ways i know to disguise plants, but then again i have never had to. just tossing my two pennies out there...

Why the heck would anyone assume I'm only trying to keep someone from snatching them? I didn't say anything about my motivations being to keep someone from stealing them. That's just one of many obvious reasons for not wanting to announce to everyone with a view of my backyard (5 adjoining homes) that I'm growing. If people can't imagine any other reason for wanting to keep a low profile with a backyard grow, medical or not, they're not really using the gray matter between their ears, or they've been smoking too much of the good stuff.

I found what I was looking for, it'll work perfect for my needs and allow all the sunshine in that the plants could possibly want. Peace out

Just tie some tomatoes to them and tell everyone they are tomato plants. LOL.
