Dispensary weed is disappointing

So the last few days I’ve been trying a few strains that I pick up at my local dispensary because I’ve run out of home grown. My feelings on dispensary weed are not very good and that’s my personal opinion and it could just be my neck of the woods. The flower looks good a little dry for my liking and when I smoke diffrent strains they all taste the same. After smoking it’s usually the same from dispensary weed I’m high for like 30 minutes then want to eat the house. My home grown weed gets me high for at least 2 hours and I never get the munchies to much usually dry throat and that’s it. I feel like the testing they do is very inaccurate or maybe the weed is harvested to early but all in all it’s a disappointment.

Alaska retail is disappointing as hell. Dry as a popcorn fart. Little to no odor or flavor. I have had maybe 3 decent offerings. Everyone focusing on the highest THC content. Never a terpene profile available.
I remember back in the 90’s the weed up here was so amazing literally would be so stoned I’d sit and laugh for hours

The current generation only looks at the THC content because that's all they've known. They were not around back when weed had lower THC levels and many need the higher levels just to get high because they have built up tolerances. So it makes sense that growers supplying dispensaries grow what the market wants. People like me are in the minority these days and that's just fine. I don't buy from dispensaries and am free to grow the landrace strains that I want. They might not have the highest THC levels but they have flavors you just can't find today in all these hybrids.

I have friends that prefer some of the weed I grow over the high THC strains. Nothing better than rolling a joint of a South American Sativa, kicking back, and listening to some Alan Parsons I Robot with friends while drinking a rum and coke. Nobody is dazed out of their mind and everyone is involved in conversation enjoying each others company while high but still sociable.

I smoke maybe twice a week and even with the high thc levels it’s still not that exciting. Quite honestly I believe a 1:1 ratio of thc to CBD is going to give you a better high than a 24% thc and no cbd.

I grew a CBD strain for my wonderful lady because she can't handle the high THC and has health issues that the CBD helps. It was a 1:1 ratio at around 10% of each. I found myself sneaking into her woman cave where she kept the jar to snag a bud from time to time because I sometimes enjoyed the high more than some of the higher THC stuff I have stashed in my man cave.

It's rare that I am impressed with dispensary weed. I have friends that bring it by all the time and I rarely enjoy it. I hate to be mean and say I don't wanna smoke the weed they are sharing but I just get mine out and soon everyone is smoking it over the other stuff. Every once in a while they bring something that's done well, usually they paid too much for it though.

I am about to chop a 1:1 thc/CBD strain next week. It’s supposed to be 8%. Smells lovely.

All my friends that come over with dispensary weed end up smoking mine and usually go home with a free bag of what I grew. I don't have a problem with sharing but now I have many people looking to me for help with growing their own. I don't mind helping but it gets time consuming helping people set up grow tents with lighting, fans, etc... But the reason I do it is because they will be getting seed from me so I'll have that many more grows to use to find the best pheno's. I've told them that I don't want any of the harvest but I might want to take some cuttings. They are all fine with that. It's a win win for everyone.

If your dispensary bud tastes like nothing, consider yourself lucky. The last dispensary bud I tried vaping left a greasy salty non cannabis taste on my lips overnight, and kept filling my nostrils with crusty unnatural boogers, had my nose whistling every hour trying to purge the fungicides from my lungs. They spray their crops with so much garbage. BT, beauveria bassiana, milk, coriander garlic rosemary canola baking soda, you name it,as long as the lab don't test for it they'll spray it. And if it's got fruit or sweet in the name you best believe its been fed some artificial aroma bullshit also, grape scraps, lemon peel squeezins, etc Absolutely useless product. You cant even make edibles worth taking.

I literally do not understand why people buy the legal garbage. Dont know if it's the contaminants or the fact the shit is pulled early and grown by soulless idiots, but it doesn't get you high. Arizona, Colorado and Socal all have NASTY bud. And it's spreading. Seen some nasty artificially scented shit in the bay even. Should be obvious when every strain smells like hay, but the fruit themed strains smell like single note fruit scents.

Im old and crippled. I dont even want to grow. But there's no other option. Everyone has went insane since weed was legalized; confusing unflushed bud for "gas" and sesame oiled bud for skunk. Showing entire 40 strain menus that all smell like dairy products. Everyone I used to deal with only grows personal, or grows that tainted commercial bullshit now. Or only sells by the 10 pack, and I don't sell anymore.

Honestly I use the Internet specifically to vent these frustrations. Felt like I was in an alternate dimension when I moved to Az. People there think there's something wrong with my bud, because it has smells any smoker should recognize and gets you high, while they are smoking stuff that 100% does not smell anything like any Cannabis variety whatsoever, and has the effect of being poisoned or choked out. People are in deep denial that the dispo shit is dirty garbage. I'm sorry but I'm not a pot snob for wanting Cannabis that doesn't smell like fungicidal treatments or obvious, bitter fruit rind extracts. I'll smoke trim all day i dont give a shit. But some garbage smelling like "made in China" plastic and Blueberry Tasty Puff? Yeah, that ain't what AK47 smells like. Dispensaries and the influx of dispensary cult members who obviously don't have taste buds or gag reflexes are ruining the weed scene.
