Distance from Light to Plants

I'm running a 600-watt HPS inside a DayStar air-cooled hood with 6" flanges. About how close can it be to the tops of mature flowering plants, without harming them?

I imagine you should be able to get away with 1 ft from the tip of the glass to the tops of your plants, but be sure to check and see with the back of your hand if that is too warm/hot still

You should be able to go about a ft'....keep in mind that will cut down considerably on yor coverage..it is tempered and with 6" blastn' thru there, that glass should be warm but not hot to the touch...I wouldnt go any closer than 12", could also point your canopy fan that direction too...

I've tried 12" away from 600w and even at 75 degrees with a fans on either side blowing under the reflector I got some premature seeds.

I have good results keeping the 16" away. I get them a couple inches closer than recommended while still getting good area coverage.
