i was in line at home depot one day and they had a bunch of catus at the register. lucky i got away with only 2. they had some really cool ones.

i think i've said it before... but i think i've just had too much cactus in me to really appreciate it as anything good... hahhaha!

I have a Christmas cactus. It looks cool and blooms once a year with pink flowers.

i went to the hydro shop to buy a new 250 MH set-up. they had none in stock. he said to bring in the one i just bought and he'd check it.
i brought in the one i just bought plus the 2 bulbs i had. the original bulb that came with it and the bulb i bought last week. he checked the ballast it was all good. we tried both my bulbs. didn't work. we tried one of his and it started to work but i don't think he gave it enough time to warm up. he said it must be something in the ballast. they were to get 250 set-ups on thursday.
i went 2 blocks down the street and bought a brand new sun system 250w MH set-up. sealed in the box from the factory. took it home. put in the bulb i bought last week. didn't work.
took the bulb i bought last week back to the first store that i bought it at. i wanted him to check it. he didn't have a 250 system set-up. he just gave me a new bulb. i came home and put it in the new set-up. it's working so far.
so i'm guessing the bulb that came with the HTG set-up was bad. then i replaced it with a bad bulb. now i have 2 ballasts and hoods, 1 good bulb and 1 bad bulb. i guess i send everything back to HTG. he set me back 3 weeks with all this. my new hood comes with a 5 year warranty and it's 4 blocks away. i'm stuck with finding a box to ship this back in since i threw the outer one away.
what a nightmare for 250 watts of MH. i can't wait until spring gets here.

i wouldn't get any more advice from the guy at the first hydro store any more...

fdd, I always hear you going on about nitrogen... what about phosphorous and potassium?
High levels of potassium are just as important as nitrogen, likewise a middling amount of phosphorous...
I just hear you raving about nitrogen alot, but you never mention the other 2.
i was thinking that last night. the nitrogen i use has P and K but probably not as much as i could use. i think i will go get some 3-3-3 today.

sorry to hear about your equipment problems FDD . is the MH for the babies going outside in spring. cant wait to see some more trees . Peace
