DIY Aeroponic setup for a mother plant...

I copied one of the great DIY's in here before by epix I think it was... But mine is a little different.

Instead of the container being the resivior, my rubbermain just has the sprayer nozzles and an inlet from the pump and a return to the resi.

Do you guys think my mother will survive in just an air mist with nutrients and no grow medium???

Here are some pics...

sure. anything is possible.

however, you need to black out the res. needs to be light tight

and i've said it before in your last thread, ill say it again..... i would never use aeroponics for mothers that i want to keep around (unless i had the pump on a UPS battery backup type device)

once your power goes out, your mother is history just about. and yer fucked

fucked even worse if it goes out and there is no medium to keep roots moist

yes your mother would survive just fine, but i would agree on hydro not being the system for your first mother plant. It's too risky, and gives very few advantages. You're never going to be able to flower under 45 days, and even under fluorescents mothers will grow plenty of clones in that time. Soil for mothers.

Also, are those the llittle red misters in your pictures? They seem to be mounted horizontaly, which is nt what they're designed for. They should be vertical, it will improve their area of coverage substantially. These things are designed to work with gravity to produce a fan of water. Placing them on an sort of angle sharply reduces their efficiency, unless you have a high preassure pump.

You must lightproof the res. I would say you also have to insulate the top lid with some sort of reflective insulation, or else anywater hitting the lid from underneath will be heated substantially by the light hitting the lid from on top. Res temps are the hardest thing to crack in aero, you need it below 72F qand ideally in the mid 60's. I have found gains of up to 15 F after covering the res lid.

No medium will probably work, there are lots of ways to suspend the plants, but i would use hydroton in netpots in aero to give the plants stability. They can fall over REALLY easy otherwise. Your roots will still get big, providig a counter weight to tht eplant in the res, but my plants have gotten HUGE in 30 days, and definetly need the support so they dont get owned when im changing the res and moving them arround.

I use my aero box for vegging and flowering. I would clone in it if i had to, but again i would be sticking cut clones into hydroton and running it to wet the hydroton untill they showed roots. I in fact am going to be using jiffy pellet to hydroton clones in my aero system next because my soil cloning is RETARTEDLY more succesful then my many experiments in hydro clonig. To clone in hydro, build the Stinkbud system listed on this site and ull need a 1 minute on 5 off timer which is almost 90 bucks, but it is the key to good hydro cloning.

hay there bricktown73 and eric8313, ya that does look like my DIY, i also did a 80 site DIY awhile back with a seperate rez, did the 51 site cause i didn't need that many clones all at once, lol,

but ya, you gonna need to paint the bottom and/or the top, and i used reflective alluimum tape for the cover...

here's the link to my old cloners DIY https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/118234-my-dyi-80-site-aero.html

as for the comment about the misters direction, it's true, they gotta be straight up to work best, just twist the black hose so they straight up, plug the spinner holes, fire it up and do your aiming and they'll get everyware in the container, those red one work Awsome!

As for Growing Mom's in it....
never tryed it and would personaly keep my Mom's in soil, the safty factor....
but if ya were gonna use it, i would sugest the same as Demosthenese, and do a sigle deep water rez setup to garentie the roots got a safety net if the power goes out....
i must say i never thought of that before and will keep it in mind! aero safety net! lol. :joint:

hey epixbud i like ur cloner. I have a question for ya. Does your 264 pump work good. or would you rather get a 400

good day there eric8313, the pump size has a story.....
with my first cloner i tryed to use the Black Head misters....
i originally tryed it with a 150gph pump...
no go....
so went and got the 264gph pump.....
still no go....
so i went and got all Red Head misters and changed them out.....
with the 150gph pump it only drizzled outa the red misters.....
with the 264gph all the red misters work perfect, lol, shoots water like a foot out on ether side!

so....... to answere your question, lol, i think a 400gph might have too much presure for this small of a system, unless your Rez is gonna be like 3'+ under the sprayers, lift is the only thing i find the worst on preasure........

hope that helps! :weed:
