I dont get it, why dont you guys just buy a 6 light "vanity" strip for bathrooms, screw in Y connectors and cut the grounded power cord off something or buy a generic power cord and wire it up?

12 light bulbs, clean looks and not ghetto rigged.

If you use the pvc u probly could drill holes into it and put a pc fan at the end and have it suck alot of the heat (cfl do produce heat nomater what people tell u, just not as mush as hps) from the lighs and in to your ventilation set up

yeah i thought about doing that before but i dont think that the heat inside the tube itself is very much and i dont think air passing by the base of the socket would do much cooling overall for the whole thing...

yes very nice, I was just trying to figure out a way to add some supplement lighting to my hps, then bamb! read this and new exactly what I needed and how to do it. I also was going to get some of those cheap light sockets with with the aluminum reflectors on them and and then figure out the best way to mount them around my babies. I really like the pvc idea, you could rock multiple lights on any size pvc tupe and do a vertical or even horizontal light bar to fit your needs. good looking out, I'll try to post some pics once I build a similiar fixture. Thanks for the idea, helps my own creativity flow.lol.

well thnx .... yeah i had to come up with something for my small grow cab last year... they are super customizable u can change diameter, length, how many lights spacing, and like u said u can do horizontal or vertical... i thought about building a box made of pvc around the plant and have lights everywhere...

i'm taking this plan and putting together a PVC frame to hold a total of 4 of these pieces, as you describe it 3 bulbs each. planning to use it in my grow cab for my next grow, just take out the shelf and use the dowel pins to hang the PVC frame, think it will be perfect for my first soil and my first SCRoG grow.
i think those are the trifecta, as i've been dialing everything in from my experience... CFL, SCRoG, Soil is the way to go.
the CFL can get super close, the screen is level in height so you get even exposure from the nearly cool cfl, and soil has a slow but steady growth rate which is perfect for CFL given its not a truly high intensity output.

bongsmilie those are my thoughts... maybe not the time or place, haha.. but thats what i'm talkin' bout.

:peace:

Looks nice, but for way less money you could just buy a fixture and pop a Y splitter or 4-way splitter in the socket.

yeah thats how i was doing it before these kinda a cluster fuck and wanted something more permanent that can easily be lowered or raised...and sits very very customizable

Pretty sick. I work at home depot so I think I'm just gonna get the vanity light. But it sais a max of 60ws per outlet and there's 4 so do I have to stick to that limit or could I go over it

Great work on the Fixture, could you run a pc fan down the tubing to cool the wires if that was needed?
:D
it could be done... but unless your running over 700-1000 true watts on a single line(which i dont recommend) the wires wont heat up.....

Stick to that limit because it's set by the manufacturer based on the amount of heat the fixture can sustain, and as a grower you'll be stretching the limits of that heat especially during the veg when you're keeping lights on for 18 hours or even more at a time.
