DIY far red flower initiator

I figured this would be a great first DIY LED project, very simple, and it went together very easily.

These girls are outdoors on a porch, and haven't started flowering yet. This makes me a little uneasy. The first frosts will start any time in Sept, and I want these to finish before they freeze. I have been taking a few of the same clone generation in smaller pots indoors for 12hr darkness daily for the last 3 weeks and they are flowering well, but these two big girls are too heavy and big to carry in and out.

So, I read about far red for initiating flowering and figured it's worth a try.

Drilled/tapped the mounting screw eyes and screw hole for fan regulator. Attached and JB welded the screw eyes, screwed regulator to sink along with thermal cement and used aluminum foil duct tape to secure the fan.

I was a little concerned about soldering the little beggars, but tinned the star pads and wires, and soldering with a $5 cheapo iron was no problem whatsoever. EASY!. I laid out the spacing, cut wires to correct size, then used a wood stirring stick under the stars so there was no cooling from being attached to the heat sink while soldering. Then after all wires soldered to stars, glued them to the heat sink tube.

The far red seems to work. I just put it together a couple days ago and with only two nights on, a few pistils are starting to show. Whether it was just time anyway for these ladies, I don't know, but I'd like to think that this light pushed them over the edge.

driven at 1050ma by mean well APC25-1050

on a 1.25" aluminum tube cooled by steves led "pressurizing" fan

old 12vdc wall wart I had laying around to power the fan.

thermal adhesive from steves leds glues LEDs to the sink.

Quick dirty construction took about two hours. Tape just keeps wires in place and driver attached to rail.

Mounted under roof eaves, keeps it dry.

20 min on at dusk.

You're doing the Early AM / Late PM routine? 60 min total a day?

Just at bedtime, Supposed to stimulate pr resting state fooling the plant into "thinking" it has a couple extra dark hours.

Hmm, just re-read, and I need to up the time... 5min before sunset to 5 min after total darkness, so should be around 40min on at bedtime.
