im looking at making a 1.5m x .5 x .5 grow box to house one plant. Has anyone made a homemade grow box? What do I need to consider? Can anyone show me there’s or point me at some food YouTube video? All help would be greatly appreciated

Hmm. Quite a small area. I would look at the space bucket concept, and maybe take your own spin on it.
Good luck! Post pictures of the results??

I have a box I built that is 2 ft deep. 5 ft wide, and about 6 ft tall. I grow two plants at a time. My main goals were no smell and as quiet as possible. It's overengineered, built from 2"x4" lumber and plywood with fiberglass insulation in the walls, floor, ceiling, and doors (mainly to absorb sound). The whole thing is on wheels to I can move it around if needed. I can post a few pictures if you're interested.

I wish I had made it a bit larger, but this fit the only space I had available in my basement.

Some things that could help:

Depending on the light, I've heard people get big yields in a place that, because of the height.

IMO you should use CFLs or LED because of the small grow space (with other lights heat cna become a problem).

You can add a lock to keep it secret

You should light proof it, light will sip though the smallest spaces.

You should have an inline fan and a carbon filter above the light to suck out the air and remove the smell.

I have an 100w full spectrum LED. I’ve read that 50w per square feet is good so I’m thinking of going for a 1x2 feet box.

I’ve been looking at fans but I’m going to have the box in my shed so I’m thinking of just putting vents in the bottom and top. Then put a oscillating fan. Will give it one grow and if I think it’s not getting enough air I’ll add one for the next grow.

Im growing in a 16"x20"x40" box, heat is the biggest issue. I started with cfls, they grew but there wasnt enough light. I then used 150w hps, again the grew but i suffered with to much heat. Ive switched to a custom led strip build. Growing great now.

Im using 6 3500k bridgelux eb strips ran at 50w.
120mm noctua pc fan exhausting through a diy carbon filter
Passive intake
2 40mm fans for air movement

I’ve been looking at PC fans. How do you hook them up?
