Ill try to take some good closeups on the next update. I am a touch busy always so sometimes its a challenge to even update once a week.. LOL I do like to share tech knowledge here though and I know documentation is what helps other people take the leap.

for the record. very happy with the leds I built. My next fixture is gonna be for my 3x3 tent.

you know... I am pretty bad about keeping track of times except for in flower. Probably vegged at least 4-5weeks. With lots of trimming to control them...LOL!

I have not counted the tops. There are even tops hidden by the tops you see so I have no idea. :-) A-LOT would be my answer... ;-) Those led bars should be covering a 4x4 space and will be next round. I will not be scroging next round. Gonna pick up a bunch of tomato cages and grow normal for the first time in like 7 years.

TELL ME BOUT DA TOPS! a LOT is always a good amount hahaha. gonna go top and lst with your cages or mainline? we just mainlined, we're gonna LST/top this time lol.. or are you gonna let them go au naturelle? (I'm the same with time, i go by look and feel ahha.. the 100x microscope helps a bit too. lol)

You are right about it taking some know how and time. I think that's where CPU coolers are a great start. Just putting together one module to hang can be a great starting point for a future more ambitious build.
Yes I agree here. This is what I would do. Try one module even with parts I may be able to work with at home and learn. Before expecting to be able to go the whole way.

Here we go. Almost 7 weeks. They are actually picking up pace now it seems. I was also able to lower the light this week. about 8-9" away. No negatives. I think its important to ease them into it. Start them high and work lower as they progress in flower and keep an eye out for bleaching. Very happy with how things are plumping up. It is all getting to be super hard too. Unlike I have had before...

@SomeGuy, Man does that look GREAT you could use that canopy as a table its so flat!

I would love to see some PAR #'s from your setup as I'm sure at that distance and with that much power its gotta be damn bright in there. Do you think that level of light saturation which must be far beyond the point of diminishing returns could possibly be the cause for the slower than normal finish? is that even possible? I'm just "thinking out loud". I cant help but feel that if you pulled the middle bar out you would have similar yield. I could be wrong but you are running close to double the wattage as most of the COB growers here and no one else is reporting slower than normal finishing times that I remember, I think most are reporting a few days shorter than HID.

Wanted to post a last pic so you all can see these veros grow buds. I was wrong about timing. Seems they are finishing more quickly now. I doubt I will be posting more updates for a while. I'm dealing with taking over some things for my parents as my dad is having some difficulties and my mom is already disabled.

My last thought is... If your thinking of building your own light and going led its worth it!

W-O-W SomeGuy... just WOW.

I guess I've got to go out and build myself a LED light like this now!

Hope all things go well with your family.
And hope to see a yield and smoke report some time soon.

This was epic.

I've been reading up on the diy led by SG and Supra and was thinking this is something I need to make. (awesome btw)

But atm I'm a small cab grower and thinking I don't have the height for it without cooking the ladies.

My cab is 30L x 30h x 8w. Inches Currently a cfl / soil grower and was looking to increase my yields and reduce the heat.

Do you guys think I could run two
V 18 's in this space without cooking / bleaching the plants?

I think so for sure. I run LEDs in a tent. I also run some CFL for side lighting. Sometimes I turn off the CFL's and the difference in temps without these lights on I'd noticeable.
