DIY led grow

Bump for our old reggae friend and SPD tinkerer.....

here's one of my favorites for a sunny day
....................... LOL

Are you using 4000k/660 in flower? if so .............................share brother:hug:

ahhh psua..since you put some ub40 on I'll have to oblige..

using my 3500k 3590s at 1.8a right now, want to see if they can handle themselves. Just been having fun with all the lights I made with different spectrums...they all work good in the end..

Here's a outdoor vs indoor 4k/660 nug comparison for ya. Illuminati gluttony gsc cross, little bigger nugs outdoor, little stronger all around as far as odor, high, etc. Not too far off of outdoor though, maybe one or two points away on a 1- 10 . Much better than anything I ever grew with red/blue type. Haven't grown it under a warmer kelvin yet so can't really say how it would differ, getting there.

the 4k is well cured as far as the color difference..

back to my vacation, take care all

To my eye the 4k/660 nugs look a bit denser than the outdoor nugs. But that may just be a trick of the camera.

Looks tasty :weed:

Not really, they are both really dense. Camera doesn't focus in like it used to. I need to get a better one soon

@PSUAGRO.

How's about 3500k, 660, and 730?

3590s at 1.75a, 72v version, just about full power to the cobs for the full run.

Let's see if they survive and how they do. Day 5, will update occasionally. Two gojis and a Chem d cross, immortal og.

Initial observation....I can run probably twice as much power in there with softer driven cobs. It's a bit of a hot air machine..

Peace out

Bonjour
I'm about to build another cxb 3590 panel...but I want to add reflector!
What angle should I aim for?
Is there some I could fix to ideal holder from kb? Or I should buy others holders?
Have a nice day!

nice unit, i'm trying to decide if i want to get some reflectors or lenses to try on my CXB, you like them?
I like them with or without. There are times for each, sometimes both. They really aren't hard to add once you practice tapping a little. If on a budget I'd just go without, the prices were all over the place on the ledils last I checked.
Haven't used the kingbrite lenses yet, got a few sitting on the side. When I saw how thick the glass was and the size of them it turned me off a little. Don't really see using them unless I see someone doing something extra special with them

I like the 90 degree reflectors. The ledil clamp with reflector attachment might be the only available alternative to the reflector adapter that fits the ideal holder. Search bjb, aag stucchi, ledil, ideal, khatod?, for holder options

My 200w thread shows the 3070 ledil clamp, soldering required...

This thread shows the reflector adapter for the ideal holder somewhere...

There's always pot pie pans....seriously..

Update on grow later, not much interesting yet. Bit of heat stress and yellowing. Comparatively a male goji I have outside is emerald green and thriving. I think it's safe to say I won't be running this light so hard in the future. Let it finish for the fun of it. It will be interesting to see if the reflector, led, and mixing lens I just put in will survive the high output

yeah i decided not to go with the lens at the last minute, especially if i am going to have 16 CXB on a 10"x36" hs......

so you said you did not like running the light at 200W, too intense? how big of a space?

has anybody ever like wrapped the heat sink with a reflector? or does that even make sense to anybody. I was just thinking you could take whatever reflective material and drape it kinda like a tiny lil curtain/bed skirt down a couple of inches.....
sorry if the idea sucks, i usually wait a lil bit before just throwing ideas up like that so i can realize how ineffective it is but just wanted to throw that up for thought

on that same note i wonder why they don't make reflectors with lens, like a double shot, i'm sure you would have to be pushing mad watts for it to even really work out but yea...

ohh wow 137w to each 3590, is that the max consistent wattage? bet they are PUMPing out some light.

ohh nice you have tried that, i knew i could not have just came up with that before anyone

Skeet skeet! Whatcha crossing him to?
I was going to cross goji to the gsc but the gsc threw a few nanners. Actually happy about that since she's never done that before. All the late night light interruptions from having family over lately caused her to turn. Better than spraying with chemicals for a reversal. Hopefully have a bunch of s1 to see what kind of variations are in this awesome albeit low yielding strain.

So it will just be used to lightly pollinate my two goji girls in the case I don't order more seeds. Goji has shown me more hybrid vigour than I've seen in a long time. Thick stems, fast growth, really hardy strain. Seems a lot different than heaven mountain which grew more viney and slowly for me. Still enjoying the heaven mountain stash. Strong earthiness and og flavor came out with a long cure.

Info overload, haha, sorry. I love this sh@t.

Folks this is my first run with this setup and only my 2nd time w cobs. I added 4 3590, 3500k to my optic360 16 days ago. Plants seem to love it. I did a shitty job establishing an even canopy.

The destroyer i'm growing is stretching like crazy. Root are completely grown through the base of the 5 gal i had her in. I put her pot inside another 1/3 full, 5 gal. It's a 10 week strain min that make chop about 7 weeks away.

In the pic you can see 2 lenses on the optic. I removed those. I lowered the light on the side where stretch wasn't an issue. Does that make sense? I used a cheap lux meter and found there is a big range like 400-1100 But with the 10-12 inch height difference I'm not sure I can do better.

Question: Those small unknown cuts are from a good mom but they got screwed up when I put them outdoors after being under 18/6 CFL. They went to flower back in June. I left them out side, stripped off the flowers they initiated and they reverted to veg. I brought them back inside under 11/13 and they are flowered up petitely but fully. Im wondering if it makes sense to be giving up the valuable real estate when they have been through a few changes and might not end up being worthwhile. I don't care much if they are shy yielders but if they aren't top quality I would be disappointed. It would be a catastrophe if they booty popped my girls though I don't see anything suspicious at all. Take a look at the excellent flowering response on those 2. (2 cuts in a single 2 gal)

I appreciate any observations, suggestions, feedback etc.(is that foxtailing from heat or SST)

Again many thanks for the generosity of LED diy folks

sorry missed this, meant to reply back. nice setup

The height difference doesn't look too bad. Id probably do the same and tilt the light. larger differences a reflector would seem to be better suited.
not sure about real estate, i have constant problems with that myself. Can't keep everything but at the same time you've already invested time with cuts and may as well see it through.
Plant health looks excellent. I saw more foxtailing from 2700k than 3 or 4000k. Maybe just a strain trait?
Not much to suggest..build another light? backups are nice...:joint:

hey guys,
I reviewed several threads but could not find the information needed.
In short, I want to do a LED panel. Where do you get the parts? I should find somewhere the following:
LED drivers
aluminum sheets
aluminum heat sinks
mounting and hanging parts.
I browsed in automation https://www.mrosupply.com/automation/ but could not find anything specially for LED building.

Digikey has leds

Heatsink USA for aluminum heat sinks, or depending on led wattage and store that sells computer heatsink then alpine 11 plus had been the recommendation.

Depending on which led and at what power you want determines the driver(s) you need and that means where they are sourced varies.
