DIY......the Mother Hood

A small, self contained growroom.

I ran into a problem a couple of years ago, I needed a mother plant for clones but my growroom was on 12/12. I started a plant in my bedroom but wifey complained bitterly about the smell (I just don't understand that). Partitioning the growroom was not practical so here's the simple solution I came up with.
The first picture is the Mother Hood in operation. It's very simple and the only real expense are the lights. My first one had one light and it worked just fine, I now use two because I needed something to do one day so I popped another light in there.

Materials list:
1 12"x30" galvanized flue thingy (name?), <$10.
1 or more 24" t5 fluorescent fixtures. <$27 each.
1 12v 80mm CPU fan, $5-10.
1 6-12v charger, $2 at a thrift shop if you don't have a drawer full of
them already.
2 drip pans big enough for the thingy to sit in.
Black paint for the pans if you want it light tight.
White paint for the inside if you want maximum light reflection
Some small screws.
Duct tape.
2 black plastic microwave dinner dishes, one smaller than the other, to
be cut in half for light baffles over the fan hole.

Tools:
Simple hand tools and drill with hole saw.

I think the pictures are self explanatory so I won't go into a step by step
how-to. If anyone has questions in that area let me know.

I recently turned it into a Father Hood to make some pollen, a digital timer was the only addition.

This could be used as a growroom if someone was very short of space. The plant would be small but at least it would be. I'm looking for a larger thingy, maybe 24"x4', to grow larger mothers.

MH 4 is Purple AK47.
MH 5 is OG Kush.

Got the clones at a dispensary, I don't have any finished pics but I grew it outdoors last year and was very happy with it. Biggest plant produced 2lb finished. Very nice smoke and easy to grow big. Of course nearly everything is easy to grow big outdoors.

Here's a picture from early July, gettin' big already.

I can't remember who it is but there's a guy on here that grown in tubes like the one your using. He makes his out of the galvanized sheetmetal though (I think) from Home Depot though and bends it into a 15" tube. Then he screws it together with sheetmetal screws along the seam. the only other difference is he uses a few CFLs mounted to the lid and then uses something to support the plant from underneath that he can change out as the plant gets taller so it's always a few inches from the lights.

I'll tell you what, If I was to start over, I'd do exactly what you and he did. Way simpler than anything else I've seen and takes up very little space. Plus if you want to grow a couple more plants you just make a couple more tubes since it's so cheap to make them. Awesome ideas...

It's called a vent duct or vent pipe depending on who makes it. They are sections of pipe or ducting used in your home for heating and air.
You will find them at Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. in the Heating and Air section.
