Dj Ruiners New Plans and Ideas for a Grow Closet

For those that have been following my grows know how limited for space i have been.

Have been growing for the last 6 months in a stealth dresser.
Its specs was 3.5'x2.5'x1.5' and ive had 5 plants in there at once,we now have just 2 plants in there now and its really crammed with both plants almost in the lights.

We was considering either buying/building a grow tent, but with all the drawer and closet space we have, and with the closet setup the way it is,it would be a much better and much much cheaper route to go.

Along with the added space....we are gaining a few other great advantages.
firs off,all the wires will be ran through the wall and hidden.will have all the lights running on one surge protector.and the best part..imo...there is a drawer directly under the closet,in this drawer is going to sit a bucket of ice filled with ice packs and ice water that is going to be vented directly into the bottom of the grow area.the front of the drawer will have 2 fans pulling air over the ice then another fan pulling air from the drawer into the grow area.this really helps living in a high heat area...and there is also going to be a window unit ac blowing right at it from about 10 foot away

also will be building a new light hood...yeah..if you have not figured it out..im DIY all the way...building this stuff is as fun as growing to me.will be splitting a dryer vent then supporting the sides with plywood.will be mounting a surge protector inside the hood with plug in socket and y socket adapters for all the cfl's im tossing in there.and there is a good chance that very soon im going to upgrade to a hps setup...but thats if i can find one at a good price...hell ill even buy used.

just wanted to share what im going to start building soon..i still have 2 plants in flower right now that im waiting for them to finish before switching to the new box. if anyone has any input or ideas on how to improve this...feel free to share.after i start the build ill be doing pics as i go along so everyone can see how it was built.....an the last 2 pics was me being bored...and stoned..and playing around with photoshop...really helps to see what im talking about to get the idea...hope my crude examples will pass as understandable.

but for now..its time to smoke a bowl....and break out the saws..this should be fun
i fucking love not living in a apartment now

:hump:

I'm subbed up dude!! i stoked to see what you can do with some real room! mega crop circles!!!
not trying to tell ya what to do or anything.. but you should try to incorporate your exhaust into or as close as you can to your light hood. and if your gonna have ac blowing toward it you may not even the ice. i would try to open that bottom area up and put a thermometer at canopy level and see what ya get. like i said can't wait to see some top notch growing!

ive tried all that...bowls of water..cups of perlite with water..wet towels under the fan...and it always stayed at 20% humidity.just trying to get everything perfect this time around

edit....although im wondering now about the bucket of ice water under the grow area...if the intake will pull in enough moisture....guess ill wait till after its built then see how it all flows and go from there

now that might be worth filling some ice cube trays for. you get two purposes out of it.... coolness and humidity... i would definitely try it! you could put some ice in a cooler with the lid open and read the humidity change and see if it's what your looking for.

and so it begins......
started cleaning out the closet tonight.have a shelf and a bar to remove and that is going to give me about 6 1/2' of grow height.

i was considering getting some poster board to cover the walls on the inside, but thats going to take about $30 bucks just in poster board...at least.
then i was looking at rolls of mylar..that would run me about $45 to cover the walls.in an effort to not put too much cash into a place we might move out of soon...im just going to paint the walls flat white.few cans of paint will do the job and at a much cheaper price.

have yet to be able to order a new light setup (hps cooltube) so after i get it setup im going to use the lot of cfl's i have for now.can finally put these 65 watters i have to use.was way too big to go into my dresser grow box...but will work wonders in the closet.

and for now im going to put the ice chamber on hold.i believe with the size this closet is heat isnt going to be a major issue since the bulbs are going to be spread out more and not all bundle together at the top.i will still have a intake at the bottom of the closet and an exhaust at the top.will be using the 4" fans i have in my current box that are have a cfm of 145.if that dont cut it i will upgrade to a couple inline fans.
also not going to worry about the light hood for now seeing as it would be more effective to surround the plants with the lights then have them all above them.ill wait for the hps to worry about a hood.do it this way i can keep heat down and have the lights more spread out instead of directing all the light to one area.

i know you guys are all pic whores (mean that in a good way) so ill take some pics before i start to show how it is now..then pics as i go along

just waiting on a few things to get here....and having some work done on my kitchen...kinda need to wait for the landlord to be done with that before i start ripping the closet apart with him in here.might do a couple things over the weekend since i know he wont be around then....but soon as i get a few things going ill shoot some pics into here

woo hoo...finally get to post some pic updates in here...wont seem like i made a lot of progress...but it was really the biggest part of all this....i moved the shelf down to the bottom...secured it in place nice and tight...also put some screws through the inside of it that ill be hooking panda film from top to bottom behind the doors to block all light leaks....there really isnt any light coming out now...except where i need to remove a couple nails so the doors line up perfect...also now have power ran into the closet...just happen to work perfect that now you dont see any cord going into the closet at all. just have 2 of the 65 watters in there right now...before 2 of these in my dresser the temps ran at about 110-115f...right now its at 78 with the hygrometer maybe 3 inches from the bulbs...its not going to take much as it comes to ventilation to keep that thing cool...but tomorrow i will be putting the holes in for my intake and exhaust...should be nice and cool in there even with 12-13 good size cfl's.....and make up my mind...going with mylar for the walls...selling 4 of those mylar blankets on ebay for under 5 bucks...thats the cheapest method that i can find for now...and will work just great till i get more powerful lights....
but enough for all the rambling....here are some pics

after it was cleaned out...before i began
left side....... right side

after taking out the shelf and putting it in the bottom to lift the plants up off the bottom in case of any water leaks.
100_0536.jpg

and after getting power to the closet...will be running another more industrial extension cord into the closet the everything on the inside will be ran off a surge protector..also where my light timer will be ran off of.the lights are going to be secure to the bar which will be hanging by chains so i can just raise and lower the whole bar as needed...but also being able to move each bulb by itself.this is not how the lights will be setup...just wanted to see how it held the light in.

Still checking in, What ya gonna grow?
going to finish up these bagseeds we have going now...which some of these have some sour diesel seeds that got mixed in with my mid seeds...so hoping that a couple are SD...i know that 2 of them are putting off that same coffee/dank smell early in flower like my last SD did....but when these are done we are starting a couple papaya and bubbelicious beans and then doing some breeding and cloning with those
