DNA's SharksBreath (Great White Shark x Jamaican Lambsbread)

Here's my last post til harvest, which is about 2 1/2 weeks left. I'll post some drying and dried buddage when done. A few plants have little or no resin on them at all, which I find curious. Just the pheno I imagine, as they have all been treated equally. Maybe they are a super long pheno that will take 14 weeks or something along those lines. Otherwise, no problems or issues. The smell is getting worse throughout the house, even with 2 scrubbers. I just bought a Vaportek and am waiting for it to be delivered. I can't report on smoking any as I've been exclusively smoking my Chocolate Rains, going plant to plant sampling them. Such problems, LOL.

Hey ru....you've been following along the whole time so thanks, I appreciate it. If it wasn't for you looking in, I probably would have stopped posting long ago. Rounding the turn towards the home stretch. I'll report again on harvest day......

About 10 days to go.....I cut and de-hydrated a bud for a sampling (and my personal enjoyment) tonight. It's very strong already- it's enjoyable, very sativa oriented, and long lasting. Room weight will be good but a few of the plants are just not producing a lot of resin. I've read twice about this now from others- one pheno is lousy.

Is that bud from the resinous pheno? It looks tasty

From the shots posted earlier it seems as the low resin producing pheno elongates a bit more than the other pheno you have, I have 5 Sharks Breath as my order arrived from the Attitude a few days and I'm waiting for another turn on my perpetual to start them up.

How do you think this strain will turn out in a 9 week cycle?

It's early but congratulations on a successful harvest, I had a four strain SCRoG running on 600W next door to my perpetual and it was a total waste of time (Although I had a friend/patient tending the garden, and he's just learning; 4 plants vegging for almost 6+ weeks and flowered for 9 weeks and return was 9 oz. It seems he had failed to do any upkeep after inducing flowering and it became a uncontrollable jungle, it produced the following:

3oz of Barney's Vanilla Kush - Pheno seemed more like a 11 -13 week. still gives a nice mild stone and taste rather flowery
1oz of Greenhouse Cheese - Awesome smoke, taste and smell is to die for, powerful high, but it got overgrown by all the others, I have moved this strain to my perpetual
2.5oz of Greenhouse Lemon Skunk - One of my all time favorites, at week 6 she was covered in crystals, been running her for almost 2 years now
2.5 of G13 Labs Blueberry Gum - This is another great 8 week strain, at 9 weeks she is ready to go, strong, full of crystals, and hit's hard

Yes, I sample various plants but that bud was a resinous plant at exactly 8 weeks. And you are correct, the lower resin plants are slightly taller and the best yielders. These plants may be fine at 14 weeks or looks may be deceiving too. Lastly, mine will only go to 67 days as I have it planned right now. But the majority of plants are very nice and VERY potent, maybe a 9.5/10 potency. No comment yet on taste or smell since I dehydrate them quickly but that will follow.

Yeah it does kind of suck to post a grow journal and not get much feedback.
The main thing is, this record will be available for future growers to look back at and you will end up getting alot of visitors over the next few years.

Thanks Althor..........I've done enough of these now that it doesn't bother me much anymore. It really depends on the strain I'm doing at the time. I remember a Green Poison thread I did that's had 1000's of posts and since no one knew the strain, there was a lot of followers and comments. Having it turn out well helped even more. Sharks Breath is an old time strain so I knew there wouldn't be much interest. I actually did it because I couldn't find 1 quality review, from start to finish, anywhere. I knew from others the strain would turn out just fine, and it did.

Final report.

Everything is done and I've been trying to find my camera's battery charger, which is apparently lost. I borrowed a shitty camera and you'll see the shitty picture at the end of the report. Sorry, if it shows up, I'll post a pic that does the strain justice.

SharksBreath- GWS X Jamaican LambsBread

This is an nice potent strain from DNA. It's an oldy but still a goody. I was happy with the results and would consider growing it out again. It was generally easy to grow except a few plants were a bit more finicky than most of the others. There is some variety within the strain, from a low yielding, smaller sized, rock-hard main cola that's the "done first" pheno (8.5 weeks) to the monster yielding, spongy and airy main cola pheno that will probably need 12-13 weeks to finish properly. These are the extremes and were probably only 4-5 plants in the room of 24. The main pheno you'll see generally lean towards the Great White Shark in appearance- nice, dense potent cola's of above average size, done in about 9.5-10 weeks. This is a great resin strain- it's loaded. Just touch the buds- wet or dry- and you're "stickyfied". While drying, many have mentioned to me the smell of licorish/anise- sweet but "off" if you get my drift. I'd bet this comes straight from the LambBreath. Things have only been drying for about 10 days. I'm guessing that after a 1-2 month cure, this will really come out in the taste department too although right now it's more of a delicious fruity essence. The buds are dark in color, more brown then green, and it's REALLY noticeable when my just finished Chocolate Rain is along side (these are day-glow green in sunlight).

Harvesting was a bitch- lots of branches develop thru the grow. Do yourselves a favor and trim the bottom 1/3 of the plants branches off a week before flowering. You'll see a major improvement in size of your remaining cola's at the end (and a lot less trimming). Make sure you stake the plants, at least the main center stalk. These will lean and fall into each other if you let them. I've always read about how they can handle a lot of fertilizer and I pushed mine, probably a bit too much. They really don't need more then around 1000 ppm in flowering to do fine. I had no cal/mag or nute issues. I flushed for 2 weeks. I got my normal 2 oz. per plant, but I could have easily gotten three if I had followed the above advice. It yields way above average.

The money shot: Potency is a solid 9/10. It takes a while for it to come on but in 10 minutes you'll realize, "I'm stoned". I haven't needed to smoke very much to get really high and it lasts a good long time- over 2+ hours. It seems to me the breeder tried to get 2 traits from the LambsBreath- taste and some sativa high to balance the GWS- and he succeeded. There is a perfect balance to this high- I'd say 70% Indica and 30% sativa. It's very relaxing- calming, peaceful and mellow. But there's just enough head high, mostly in the eyes and forehead- to know you smoked some sativa too. It's strong. It's potent. You'll be happy with it. Period.

Edit: Dam, I guess the picture turned out ok after all. Click on it for a closeup. Notice the rust hairs. They are darker then the picture makes them out to be, I'm guessing the flash had a hand in that. Thanks to everyone that participated and followed along.......

I bought a single seed a few months ago and have it in storage. I want to grow this strain so bad.
Back in the early 80's I smoked some lambsbread (breath) and it was a nice high but the taste was sooo nice. Like a fine wine.

Very nice journal, and the final nugget shot looks yummy. I have just started my 5 Sharksbreath and ordered 10 more and am looking for about 2oz per plant. This strain as you described may very well turn out to be my #1 strain for 2013.

Back to Sweet Seeds "Green Poison", my signature strain in the large room and Breeders Boutique "The Dog" in the small. I ordered some other strains last night from Attitude in case my baby's die from lack of light if I lose power (which is expected) from the east coast storm. Hey Joe.......NO LambsBreath in it but yes, that pheno of the C.R. is the EXTREME sativa pheno, which Lambsbreath is too. Most of the C.R. did not look like the pictures-it's just the one I documented. It's my favorite smoke at the moment........until The Dog. LOL
