do caregivers and dispensary suppliers really cure for 2 weeks to a month?

im always hearing about long cures for best smoke. but do people really cure for 2-4 weeks before selling to dispensary??? some of the best stuff i had was from my Michigan dispensary but i just dnt see someone curing for so long and waiting so they can sell it. but is this how its done?

alot of time when i get bud here in texas its not cured but that is just buying from random peeps not out of a despencery but i believe it just depends on what shop ypu go to

wow i didnt know this.i mean i know it took some time but didnt know it was 3 weeks. do u have a link or anything that i can read up on this?

When selling for profit it is doubtful they cure more than 2 weeks if at all. But as with most things it varies depending on where u go.

On the real it's kinda like this; high class disp. Buy bulk so sum weed has been on the "shelf" awhile. But there are exceptions to all rules . Many grow there own and buy very little often the better stuff is presold to peeps around alot.
Many just cure for a day or two and sell it As fast as demand will take it!
Now I cure for two weeks when I can an man can I tell you the difference of Freash to cured is amazing. NOT always better flavor wise but always stoneyer

I do. I'll cure for up to 3 months if needed. But drop the RH down to 50-45% befor I take it into the disp. Most of the time I go 2 weeks and let them know it's ready then week 3 I take it in. Then keep the rest in cure till more is needed. But I know others dry or over dry there shit then jar got a day or 2 and then bring up wight by placing in the bathroom. Adding humidity. Then jar another day. But we can spot them and they don't get the money I do. Hell after time it's like they grow it with you. And know your product but still goes under the scope. That I don't mind. I font want to give out meds with mold or mite shit.

i saw a vid of subcool say he cure some shit for 9mt. thats a lil 2 long for me to wait

Longer the cure the better. But if I can't get rid of it in 8 weeks I have another crop coming down. My old lady would be pissed. She is in charge of the cure. 80 jars a day think she will kill me. Lol

What? That statement makes no sense.
THC is formed by decarboxylation, precursor cannabinoid THCA --> THC.
After THC is present it does not need to 'mature' and does not take any time to 'reach potency'.
If you let the trichomes go amber you lose about 90% of the potency you had in cloudy trichomes, since THC is degraded into CBN.



To answer the OPs question:

Probably not, I've heard some dispensaries don't even want cured want, some do, some don't.
Those who don't want cured weed must be morons though, since cured weed is by far better than uncured.

Every personal grower with respect for his weed cures for months. I know one guy who cures for up to 6 months but it is extremely hard to stay within the RH ranges that allow weed to cure for so long.

If you want prime weed you should cure for a month at least.
Remember that proper storing of your weed can keep improving the taste and odour of your weed for a long time.

THC is psychoactive, it does not need to be converted into anything to be psychoactive.
Curing doesn't "convert" any THC, what do you stipulate is converted into THC?

Curing slowly removes chlorophyll and other substances from the weed, thereby improving taste and odour.

I'm actually having a bit of a cure dillemna. I think I got a little greedy and put the buds in too moist. The outsides are dry, but the insides are still moist and burn harsh. I think I may be opening the jars too often and not letting the moisture redistribute enough? Or should I just leave the buds out longer. No mold, but it's almost like the moisture is trapped.

This was something BrickTop posted a while ago on this...

Before drying, decarboxylation of inactive THCA acid into THC has not yet occurred. During the curing (final drying) process, the COOH bonded to the THC is released. The result is the psychoactive compound delta9 THC. Amounts of THC do not actually increase during the curing process. Non-psychoactive THCA, in part, becomes psychoactive THC. Even then not all THCA has become THC.

I find if it is crunchy on th outside but wet on the inside after it sits in the jar overnight it will equalize the outside of the bud will be wet again!
Open it up or dump it out depending on the moisture and repeat if ya need to!

I work for a dispense. and the answer is no. Most dry trim and as soon as it's trimmed it can be sold. However we hang for 2 weeks to dry, a lot of places do the 3 day trick

It has stopped doing that. I'll try leaving it in the jar longer without opening. This may be one of those annoying patience exercises.

my darkstar has been in jars now going on 2 months ,in the beginning it was harsh and made me cough after a big puff,the smell wasn't to strong either,i was thinking it was because i didn't flush and was considering flushing next grow.After over a month in jars now this smoke has a kick ass smell and very smoothe ,can take huge hits ,curring makes all the difference.

Maybe I just need to wait. I was kind of pissed because I went to sample and I got very weak hits and it was because it wasn't burning properly. Usually at this stage, it has not reached max "smoothness", but it still smokes.
