Do clones need nutes besides rooting gel?

Sorry, just a simple question I had trouble finding an answer to.

People doesn't say anything about soaking cubes in nute soup. Do you only need rooting gel?

I like rapid rooters for cloning... they are made of composted tree bark.. which takes care of any nutrient needs!

I take my clones in rapid rooters and when I soak em I soak with rhizotonic and mycos slurry. Shouldn't need anything till roots are established and should be transplanted by time needs nutes

If you get into growing lots of clones over the years you would do well to invest in one of the EzClone type machines. I use rooting gel to insure roots in 8 to 14 days. In the past I have gotten quality clones with no gel - Just cut them and start up the machine...
Got a 128 site ez cloner and used to run 6 at a time at my work. 100% rooting some as early as 5-10 days strain dependent I will say some strains hate that shit and love Rockwool or rapid rooters. If with ez cloner keep water at 71° run the clonex solution at 20ml/gal cut your clone at 45° angle from both sides to make a point then tap the white middle with your razor. Place your razor perpendicular to the stalk of clone scrape very lightly don't need a solid scrape just scuff it lightly dip in clonex gel and put in cloner. Don't turn cloner on till filled. I do this with 128 site ez cloners lol the largest u can get so its easy to do on smaller ones

I made a bunch of spray cloners (72 sites each). Very easy to do. I also use rockwool/rapid rooters in a tray/hood (w/ insert).

You don't "need" nutrients to clone, but a very light feed will give them something to munch on after they use "energy" to root.

i used to do zero nutrients in my cloner . but i see a bit or yellowing , so i run 1/4 of regular dose of nutrients working very well for me . also scrap the stem with a sharp razor so on lightly that you want to form roots it will shave off a week or so of waiting . i am talking about very light scraping like you could with a finger nail suggest trying only 1 my way to see if you like the results . the answer is yes an no if you need rooting gel . depends on the garden . it cant hurt to add them so why not ? also you did not ask but i do trim the leafs with sharp snips in half cut them right in half . this method is done by a lot of people and major commercial grow centers .a16e765790dca24318c8ec93e251a1e8.jpg not my plant .

When water temps rise I put in 6 bottles of frozen water in the water tank once a day to bring water temps down. The plants respond well to that... When the temps rise too much the stems get gooey and don't root up.

Ya it's called damping. Pretty much a stem rot temps at 71° clonex solution at 20ml per gallon and run 24 hrs you'll root 100% did it for a living made my name in the industry from my cloning techniques

I clone in coco. If something's taking too long to root, I'll often use foliar feeding just to keep them happy. I tend to go by the color of the leaves - if the leaves were yellowish or pale green when I cut them, then I watch them more closely because the clone doesn't have much nitrogen to work with to begin with. I usually start giving a clone light nutes after a week or so, because it's a safe bet that some small roots are starting to form.

Why I use the mycos slurry and rhizotonic has trace nutes along with root stimulant

cloning is very strain dependent, some strains ive run will clone 95% success every time with just water and a rockwool cube. Other strains i will struggle to get 75% success with rooting gel, and ive cut thousands of clones.

Short answer if ur willing to have a lot fail u dont need anything, unless its a particularly hard to clone strain.

I've used rock wool for years but was gifted a bag of root riot cubes and was reall happy with the results, some do tend to fall apart though which is a huge drawback.
