so currently I have 2 x 400 MH, 2 x 600 HPS 4" air cooled and 2 X 1000 HPS 8" air cooled lights. Is it worth getting rid of the 600's or should I hold onto them??

I guess my question is, Is 1 x 1000 HPS less than, greater than, or equal to 2 x 600 HPS?
What can I do with 2 x 600 that I cant do with one 1000?

any suggestions

How many are you trying to grow? I grow 15/18 3 footers under my 1,000 alone.

I would use the 1,000hps and the 400mh and forget the rest. Too much money for no real gain UNLESS your going many more than 15

Not going for more!! I was actually thinking about going smaller in the future I have a 9x4 flowering room now, but I have to move in the future and was thinking about down sizing.

Yeah thats like racing a wanna be hotrod "Honda" with a classic muscle car. Way to much power for a small job. It will save you money. My 1,000watt running 220v only runs 20 30 a month during veg

Stick with the 1,000 and just use mh on veg, then use the 400/600mh along with the 1,000watt hps. I have heard from numerous sources that this improves your yield. Any backers on this would be nice. I cant see spending the cash if its not worth it.

King, I'm not running all of the lights, Its just that through a random event I have 2 extra 600's and I am wondering if I should hold onto them or get rid of them.

Have you experienced the Mh and MPS together during flower? Is this really a benifit?

OP, you asked if you had to many, simply the answer is yes. I wouldnt use 2 1,000watts. Most begginers tend to overdue everything. Lighting is one of the biggest things. I got a 1,000watt for my first and I am now thinking a smaller one would have been better.

if the 1k is working for you now man stick with it...the only reason i would go with 2 600's over it is because you can posistion them to cover a wider area. but im a firm believer if it aint broke dont fix it

but look at my grow day 37 in flower and i got 35 more to go so my thought would be HPs light inbetween both Mh and thn he will have all the benificial light spectrums for vigrious growth

I have only experienced both the 1000 and the 400 together. I went for it my first time and had an 11 x 5 room with the 2 x 1000HPS and the 2 x 400MH all going at once, All I can say is that it worked out great! but it was such a pain in the ass taking care of such a large room that I went smaller this time.

Thanks.

also are light movers worth the $

If you do the math, 2 x 1000 will give you about 6000 lumans/Ft^2 where 2 x 600 only gives off about 3500. I know both will work, but there is about a 166% increase with the 1000 watts. but then there is the whole argument that you can't stack lumens. which frankly I don't understand.

I would run the 2 600s! you can have them closer to the plants and there is light coming from more than one source so there is less shadow on the plants! If you are running the MH in the flower room I would get rid of those and get full spectrum hps bulbs
