Do I need a 2nd 600 Watter????

My area is about 3' X 8'. I added a light mover but I cut it down so it is only gives about 3.5' of lateral movement. I checked the Lumens before shortening the light mover and every plant is getting at least 30,000+ at all times. I am just wondering if adding another 600 watt fixture and mounting them both stationary would make a difference.
The pictures are exactly 30 days into flowering (8-9 weeks flower period)
Let me know what you think

lets not start this again! I thought this was a question and answer type forum? seems like a lot of people cant be bothered to post! Why is that
 
If your going to try to add a second light, I'd look into a thousand first. I believe your lumen count will be higher with just 1 1000 versus 2 600's, plus adding the second light will cause extra heat, to keep in mind. I know my dixilux bulbs say their lumen rate is 155,000 which is way higher then a 600 lol. But when you add more light in the mid of budding you'll still increase your yield as long as you take care it properly, but it's not gonna be the same as if you started it from day 1. Just IMO.

To Be honest, I do not think you are correct! It is much easier to cool 2 X 600 watts then it is to cool 1 1000watt! Also 600watters are 7% more efficient than 1000 watters so lumen per watt is actually higher on 600's vs. 1000's!! Also if I did go to (1) 1000 watt setup it would still only give me a distance a little larger than I have now.

Digilux 600w HPS = 95,000 lumens = 158 lumens/watt
Digilux 1000w HPS = 155,000 lumens = 155 lumens/watt
 
Nahh cooling 2 bulbs is going to be harder then 1, I've ran both lights with multiple different ways but as far as the lumen output 3 extra lumens per watt does add up I will definately say that. As far as effecientcy goes, what makes running 600 watt versus 1000 more efficient? The warm up time? Amps used? Spread? Please elaborate alittle more. I know with my 2 thousands I can cover 5x10 pretty good. When I ran 600's I had to use 3 of them, that's why I gave those up, I'd also have to use my ac unit alittle more which ended up being more electricity then my current set up.

Yes if you had a room big enough that you would need 3 600's maybe 2 1000's would be better. but my question is for my specific room. Which is only 3' wide exactly and 9' deep! (1) 1000 would never cover the entire thing. (2) 600's at 3'X4' each light would safely cover 3'X9' without a worry
 
Yeah I see your point, but I'd still say 1000's would be better, if your trying to maximize yield and everything. I've seen people pull as high as 3 p's with 1 thousand and a 600(same grower) pulling half that to a third. But that's just IMO, I don't know shit though ;)
 
(2) 1000's in that little space would be complete overkill! This all started cause i am not even sure if i need a 2ns 600 and niw were are talking about 2 1000's
 
Hahaha nothings an over kill. I remember a oldschool grower once telling me that you should shoot for between 40 to 50 watts per square foot which is like 2 600(s) in your case. How big are your girls?
 
2 stationary lights will always be better than 1 light on a mover.

600x2 = 1200w

1000 x1 = 1000w

if you can afford another light it is your best bet.



edit: As far as seeing a significant difference, i personally feel that within 1-2 weeks you will be able to see a significant difference.

And no thats not enough light, you need 50w per sq/ft.

Exactly why I went with 2 600s instead of 1000. I already had the one as well so adding 2nd made good chocie. The room these two lights are in are 5'x 14' seems to cover pretty well with some decent size reflectors.
 
honestly, i run 600 watt and a 1000 watt side by side i have 4 plants starting first month under the 600 and 4 finishing under the 1000 believe me anyone that thinks a 600 comes close to a thousand's intensity is really just fool'n themselves....also i dont care if you have 3 600 the 1 1000 is gonna be more intense i like my setup alot and i think its an efficient way to grow because i couldn't fit my 8 beasts under 1600 unless i ran them this way and a 600 would never finish them
 
For a 5x14 I don't see how you didn't use thousands. My room is 5.5x11.5 and I run 2 thousands.. Shit I was gonna add another but I ran into heat issues and had to buy new hoods for ventalation. Soon I'll be adding the third thou. It all comes down to the weight your pulling IMO if your capable of pulling 2.5 p per thousand then a 3x3 or 4x4 is fine per thousand. Cause I know right now I'm peaking 2lb a light without co2 and I just added co2 so I think this run I'll be peaking atleast 2.5 per thousand. Which is well worth every penny spent to get it.
