Do I need a special HPS socket for a vented hood?

I am looking at buying a vented hood with glass for a real good price but it doesn't come with a socket,

I can I just take the socket from my hood I'm using now and attach it to the vented hood?

If you know what your doing then why not. Is the hood your using now the same watt of hid as your upgrade?
I'm not buying a whole lighting kit just the vented hood, nothing else. I want to unattach the socket from my current hood and reattach it to a vented hood. Can I do this or do I need a special socket?

The socket is already attached to my ballast I just want to swap the hoods. Do I need a different socket because it's a vented hood or are all the sockets the same and will all work?

I did it, I don't see why you can't, but I don't know... If you have to ask the question I have my suspicions.
Lol. I'm no electrician, that's for sure. I have enough faith in my abilities to be able to connect a couple screws. But as you say if I had to ask who the hell knows if I can handle it or not.

So no one is telling me I need a special socket or anything so I'll grab it and figure it out.

Thakns Gonzo and Bonzai.
