do i need cal-mag with advanced nutrients?

2 plants week 3 veg i have 4 GH powergrowers. 4x4 grow tent with T5 6 lamp sunblazer 54w and a 600w HPS running at 60%. temps 75-82 F during the day 65-70 F at night.

Not really sure what ppms i should be running! any advice?

Hello i just received my RO water system and cal-mag. some people say with the Advanced nutrients you shouldnt need cal-mag!

my nutes: non ph perfect Micro, Grow, Bloom with B-52 and voodoo juice i will soon get overdrive and big bud or bud factor x not sure what i should get for flowering really.. would love opinions!

I have experience with this! I run two hydro bubble buckets and use AN Micro, Grow and Bloom -- not the ph-perfect line, the plain one. And I use a nute strength that's about 1/3 of what's recommended on the bottle, because that's what gives me the ppms I'm looking for -- 800ppm max, and sometimes less. My tap water 130ppm and I include that in the 800 max.

My plants will always show a slight cal/mag deficiency because I'm running low nutes and my tap water is pretty neutral. So I add a little cal/mag to my nute mix.

If you're using RO water, I think you're going to want to do the same.

And, BTW, I've gotten excellent results with the AN. I'm 5 weeks into flower and my plants look HEALTHY. The fan leaves on the main colas are just starting to yellow, but it's a totally different yellow from nute burn/deficiency yellow. They really look beautiful.

I use the same nutes. Sensi Grow A & B. Have had the same bottle(16oz) for a year. I also own Adv. Nutes Cal/mg, all my shit is the old school non ph perfect. My tap water is 6.2-6.5. I add a little call/mag to every other water. Prevents mold at the stems base, the calcium keeps the stems thick and strong. U should see the size of the knuckles on my afgoo. No u dont have to have it, if you can afford it yes. A small 16oz bottle will last u a year. Mine is 3/4 full and I have had it a year. I used to grow only one to two plant at a time. This was my 1st year, and now I have upped tne ante. I got 5 in flower and 2 in vegg and 7 clones that are ther 1st week of 40,000 lumens, starting to see a stretch on the clones, my 1st set! This is 14 plants, 1 below my legal limit.

Oh if u got Adv. Nutes Grow, common sense says u should use ther bloom. I have for a year! No problems. I am glad though, my bottles are almost empty and i have heard the new formula is a lot better. Checked it out the other day and the numbers have changed. Oh, I also grow in dirt Miracle Grow Organic(10-5-5). No one says dirt, is it a dirty word?

edited my first post alittle. what do you guys use to measure your nutrients? How much light should it have after the first set of real leaves show (from seedling) and nutrients if any is needed so young? how much cal-mag should i start out with? what ppms should my water be at day to day and week to week?

I always used a cal-mag product called "calimagic" and it worked great. I used it for hydro since the Cal/Mag uptake during different PH's is a bit different than a soil setup. Make sure your ph is right and add a tad.

so i usually add my micro wait like 2 min then add grow, bloom, b-52, and last voodoo juice to the reservoir full of 3 gallons then adjust the ph to 5.5-5.7 because of the rise. i heard there was a specific way to do the mixing of nutrients is this alright? and when should i add the cal-mag and again how much per gallon or per liter!

I just add my nutes and makes sure they are stirred and mixed in very good. I adjust my PH to whatever I need it to be. No particular order really. Mix nutes, then correct ph.

Depends on what PPM you are aiming for. 1 tsp per gallon is what it recommends. I would typically only use 2tsp per 4 gallons. You don't need a whole lot if your PH is right and the nutrients are there.

what ppm would your recommend through a 5-6 week veg? and a 2-4 week veg?

well when i set my ph to 5.5-5.7 when i check it 24-48 hours later the ph is like 6.5 give or take .5! how can i keep the ph closer to 5.8?

Depends on the strain.

My AK-47 runs:

week1-2: 100 upward trending to 200.

week3-4: 200 going towards 400

5-6: 400-800

Now, the 47's are pretty sensitive to nutes. Other strains aren't. You sorta just need to learn your strain and learn through some trial and error like we all have :)

Thanks! yeah i figured every plant isnt the same. is the 100-200ppm cal-mag?

bigger reservior. Yes, you will have swing because plants eat nutes and drink water at different rates. So, the ph will change more the bigger your plants are and the smaller your system is.

I always though that you should mix in the order of the highest N containing part to the lowest- at least that's what the person said over the phone, when I call Advanced Nutrients

Could be. I always added gro, micro, bloom, then calimagic. In that order. So.. you could be right.. who knows.

Well, now that I think about it, I would make my mix and then add it to my circulating top drip system. Sooooo.. my premix was always made in that order. Things change as things circulate, that's for sure.

i always say to myself if it wont hurt and someone advises it i should do it! so i would do Micro then cal-mag and b-52 then grow, bloom, voodoo?
