Do you believe in the bible word for word?

It's all about interpretation...... Gordon Freeman....Half Life superstar...lol, I played that game for months! PC gaming ruled than for graphics.....

sure, its a great collection of stories, and i think there like fables, the stories may have never happened in real life, but they apply to the day to day situations we encounter. i have read plenty of passages that apply to my life today. but if your asking me if people were magically created just as they are today except they used to live 400 years, and that a 200 year old man built a boat that housed every animal in the world then no.

Wait! I just smoked a bowl and opened the bible and started reading every other word. It is making a LOT more sense this way. Give it a shot...

I'm here, why is strange for a Christian to not be here on a Sunday? You're actually supposed to worship him on our Saturday.


Umm obviously alot of the things sound crazy, and alot of the people say these things come from their own dreams. So I'm not sure what to believe and what not to believe. I guess you can call that cherry picking but do you believe everything a magazine tells you? Or believe everything you read on the Internet? Your answer should be no, yet you still know for sure there are many facts on the Internet too.

Does anyone know what you would call someone that claims god hates man's religion? I can't tell you how many times I've heard that

you should have made the poll so we could check multiple options. i would have checked both the "man made shit" and "kinda agree with some stuff". it was written by man and i don't believe any of the magical crap , but that doesn't mean it doesn't have some good insights and general historical accounts in there.

you know and i thought about that option, and was like, nnaahhh, wwhos going to want to click on more than one? lol. you live and lyou learn i guess.

No cant say that i do,But there are messages of morality and personal integrity in the book that i believe in,but the majority of the book i dont take as factual.

A mix of literal and allegory. Like Adam and Eve, which means "man" and "woman", but we dont know how many "men" or "women" were before the ones mentioned in the bible.

Also us as growers need to convince the truth to Christians(as well as many other people groups) about MJ. How it does not cause brain damage or lung cancer. How it is used to shrink tumors and how it doesnt have a lot of the negative side effects like prescription drugs.

I don't believe a word. And for the record, anyone who says they think the bible is full of good morals hasn't read it. I'm not taking a shot at anyone, just saying that often people are directed to specific passages by christian leaders, but don't actually read the bible throughout. It is filled with stories of rape, murder, war, and any other kind of immoral act you can imagine. The god of the bible is angry, jealous and petty.

It's quite a frightening thought that someone would actually follow the teachings of the bible. Before anyone spins into a god-like fury, that does not mean I think Christians are immoral. It means that following the teachings in the bible would be immoral. Never met a person yet, Christian or otherwise, that actually does though.

As a Christian I agree with you on the bible filled with stories of rape, murder, etc. If the bible was to be made into a movie, it would def be an R. But I am glad that stuff is in there and it makes me feel like a normal human being, like how David was a godly man, but killed a man so he could take his wife, or Noah getting sloshed and naked after riding the ark. No one is perfect and I think too many Christians try to achieve perfection, but it is impossible. I try to live by Jesus' most important commandants though, love God and love others as yourself(though some people make it hard lol)

I know what you are saying VILEPLUME, but even Jesus is an iffy character. Anyone who says, “But as for my enemies who did not want me for their king, bring them here and execute them in my presence” (Luke 19:27 NJB) makes me wonder about their motives and true morality. And didn't Jesus teach that the gospel is the true word of god, and that it should be followed? I'm really not trying to fight here, but simply discuss. Thanks for taking the time and being open about it.

humm, i do believe the bible is mostly boring and that many kindergarten books are actually more beneficial morally and educational.

the bible reminds me of scientology..

bunch of morals with some nonsense, spouted by a "charismatic" leader. (and all for the betterment of mankind)

if the scientology dude had been born in israel 0 ad, he´d probably have been crucified too (read the bible (people got stoned for farting wrong, much less trying to change the religion that got people killed for thinking different)

buddha for example, didnt get killed cause he was born in india, where "holy men" were quite common. (tricksters most of them (some ok thinkers))
and all of these "morals" the ones that make sense anyway, are just COMMON SENSE (actually quite uncommon)
much of what jesus said, was said by buddha and others before buddha. they just had a different way of saying it.

really similar to scientology or whatever, follow these rules and go to heaven (nirvana)
except that the scientology dude actually made a religion. (made it into a profit making corporation that gets donations (hope of getting into heaven))

didnt just walk around and talk alot and score free food.
