So my plants have were bought as teens clones and transplanted into 5 gallon pots and flipped almost 4 weeks ago. I was having problems with the bottom layer of soil bot drying. Now my plants have been suffering from a nitrogen deficiency. I was told to let the soil dry completely before watering no matter what. It's been five days since the last water and today there are mushrooms growing out of the holes I drilled in my pots. I'm reading that this isnt necessarily a bad thing. Anyways..... my plants need to be fed with nutrients and it's been 5 days since I watered. The top inch of the soil is dry however the rest still seems to be pretty moist. Should I wait a few more days to water? What do you guys think

Let your soil adequately dry out. Correct the nitrogen deficiency at your next appropriate watering day. These are hardy plants. The foliage will bounce right back. You don't want to muck up your roots with over watering. It's an epidemic among new growers. I've never seen mushrooms growing out of my drain holes when I was growing in soil. That's a new one. Are you indoors or outdoors? Snap pics.

I know the impulse is to water in more nutrients, but if you're overwatering, that will make the problem worse. Like others have said, go by WEIGHT. Watering this way will force the plant to produce more roots as they seek out water further down and to the sides of the pot. RESIST THE URGE TO LOVE YOUR PLANTS TO DEATH. Good luck!
