i have used 1 of these and for $40.00 shipped is well worth it for these lights. they are brand new. the reason these are being sold cheap is the seller thinks these are 277 volt only cause these are prewired for 277 and the box it comes in only says 277 volt. but the ballast is definatly multi-tap. ill take a pic of the ballast housing if you want me to. i know they have 10 more of these going up for sale. there is only 1.00 bid as of now on this but when it ends on thursday morning the next light comes up for aution and you can buy it now for $20.00 + shipping. if you need a light and can do the basic rewire of the ballast and make it remote, i highly recommend this light if your on a budget and cant afford a hydro store bought fixture.

I'm the someone else who posted the 2.99 bulbs... It's not a normal price, it's a clearance. There is nothing wrong with them and it's a good deal and they come with a 30 day warranty at least so you're covered if it's broken or whatever.

And I suggest these high bay/low bay lights all the time. There's nothing wrong with them AT ALL and it's not about a "you get what you pay for" thing. Those wharehouse lights were usually just as if not more expensive than their grow counterparts and do every bit as well at it too. Now they're used and being cleared out of buildings all over the place in favor of going more energy efficient. (Not that the new lights are better, just cheaper to run long term at lower lumen levels but made up for because flouro's are a better spectrum than HPS for wharehouse lighting.)

Sure if you can get one at $20 or 25 and IF THE SHIPPING DOESN'T KILL THE DEAL and you're on a budget buy these. They are every bit as good as a light made for growing, the only difference being the reflector and depending on the situation the horizontal bulb mounting. Both of those things are easily fixed just by hanging it on it's side by chains or remote ballasting and making a simple DIY batwing or DIY cooltube.

It's best to choose fixtures that are less than 10 years old, check the label or ask. Also if being shipped ask them if you can save on shipping by having them throw away the old bulb and the reflector and just shipping the ballast. It can cut shipping by more than half if they are willing to do it.

First check craigslist and call local lighting contractors though. These wharehouse lights are available almost everywhere this cheap or can be haggled this cheap if you just look around a week or so and make some offers.

"i found 400mh highbay for 60. bellsouth is selling them. they are 277 volt though. is there a way to convert it?"

No, and for a halide that's a bad price anyway. It should be $25... Maybe $35 if you aren't willing to wait.

Just keep looking. Unfortunately you have to use the right search terms on craigslist or ebay to find them all. Search for wharehouse lights, halide, hps, grow lights, high bay, and low bay.

There's also freecycle.org if you can really wait and watch for a while and would rather get a handfull of them for free.
