do you think soldiers get paid enough?

im sure this has crossed somebody mind before and the topic has probably been brought up. but im sitting around today smoking with a close friend and the topic came up about him joining the marines. and then after a while i moved on and brought up that i don't think soldiers earn enough money a year to do what they do. i did some reading and doctors can make from 100,000 all the way up to 800,000 a year. and yes they make good money because they spent many many years in college and work to save the lives of people. but US soldiers have to risk their life every day, or whenever they are on duty to protect 309,205,583 people in america. but they get paid 15,000 a year? if that. i understand there are many reasons why they don't make as much as doctors, and that we probably cant afford to pay them as much as we would like to. but i just think 15,000 isn't worth it.. there are many perks and things you get to do after serving your time. btw i am in no way against the armed forces if thats the way im making it sound. just an opinion.

And basketball players, and golfers, and the rest get paid millions?

For E-1 to E-4 under 4 years of service, yes I do. Base pay is about $19,000 plus housing $800 + food $300 = ~ $33,000 /yr (19K taxed). Paid Medical (value $300 mo) plus after 3 yrs of service a 36 month paid tuition at any public University, with paid books and paid housing. After 4 years when you are the shit no, not enough pay. At that point you have a family and more responsibilities in the service. It can also be more demanding than the civilian sector. E-4 to E-9 should be ~ 35% higher. They should bring back retired pay to 50% also.

$15000 a year? thats bull for a marine my opinon of them just went down alot our standerd infantry get £16500 a year and more when they specalise and get premoted thats like around 25000$ for the lowest rank after training.

also i want to join the army training for it now need to be super fit to get in the gards and for most people in the army the pay means nothing its like a bonus for a very good life style.

Why do you think that they have to send so many mercenaries/private military contractors over there as this BS war drag's on.. because of the illegality of the war. And 'cause the 'under-paid' and manipulated soldier's are coming back pissed off.
