does dwc affect taste and smell at all?

me and a grow buddy of mine are looking to jump into dwc(undercurrent) and we have been doing our homework for about a month now. so my buddy talked with some commercial growers today and dwc came up. they said some pretty discouraging things about the smell and taste being dramatically affected in dwc. they said the yield and vigorous growth was great. but the taste and smell was severely lacking in dwc....

i have read high and low and i have never heard this before. i have only read positive things about dwc. i even read it increases potency up to like 5% or some shit.

i called bullshit but i really dont know from my own experience so i cant say for sure.

so how about it dwc crew? does the smell and taste get affected in a negative way in a dwc grow?

Hey, Mr. Football! I've only grown DWC, I have six satellite tubs from a main rez under 2 600w HPS. I know a guy who grows in soil, and I think my bud is better than his: bigger and denser nugs, and SUPER DANK. I really liked his Strawberry Diesel and Vanilla Kush, so I decided to grow the same strains from seed. A couple of my friends concur that mine is better, and noticeably more potent . I only use the GH 3 part line, and some KoolBloom and Floralicious plus during flower. I'm not saying hydro always tastes better, but I can't see mine being any tastier :)

I think overall taste and appearance has more to do with nutrients being used flushing etc. I really doubt that you could tell the difference between soil and DWC given the same growing conditions/nutrients etc.

I have grown: Hydro rockwool slabs, Soil and DWC. I prefer DWC hands down. You made the right call.... BULLSHIT!!!

I think soil tastes the best, and fuck flushing if you aren't hydro it doesn't do anything but stress your plants

No doubt DWC has too many benefits that out wiegh the one slight adavantage you get growing in soil. And that adavantage is negligable when you grow/harvest/cure properly w/ a DWC grow.

in top shelf strains you can tell a difference but with the shit we smoke, you really cant tell hydro from soil unless you were a super connoisseur.

idk i know I like them both but can tell from a growers POV what the difference is in how they grow and how much a PITA hydro can be at times...or how sssllloowwwwwwww soil is compared to hydro.

I'm growing in both soil and DWC currently, started from seed all at the same time...I have Grapefruit Krush and AK47, both in soil and DWC...The DWC AK47 smells stronger than the soil AK47, the Grapefruit Krush in soil smells a little more than the one in DWC, but the one in DWC seems to be a little slower on the flowering...So far so good...Not to mention the DWC plants are like 2-3x the size of the soil plants...lol

I would be willing to bet my life savings at 100 to 1 odds that under proper double blind tests not even the most well known conaseurs would be able to pick soil, dwc, nft, aero, flood & drain ect from one another, same bet would apply to the organic myth.

In simular tests with wine & sipping whisky's the so called conaseurs with golden pallets ALL failed miserably, its the blind testing that put the california wine industry up on the same level with french wines & it still pisses em off,its published info if anybody in tv land cares to check it out.

The same tests have been done with high end audio where audiophiles claim the rca cables or xlr cables they spend $50,000 on & are made from pure platinum sound better than a $5 pair of monster cable inter connects.

Its all placebo.

Well under normal outside conditions the plant gets stressed toward the end of flower driving the final push to propagate swelling the buds. Is that something you really want to lose?

Depends on who you talk to I never could see much if any diff.
