That's another reason I don't really smoke cigarettes anymore. It's expensive. Rolling your own is a much cheaper option though and rolling tobacco, as far as I know, doesn't contain the same chemicals as straights. I think it's so they store well in a place that isn't sealed like a plastic tobacco pouch is. You can choose what tobacco you want (flavor, tar:nicotine ratio) and how much you want in it. Also, you're less likely to chain smoke because you have to roll one when you want to smoke instead of just talking it out of the box. I'm teaching my grandma to roll. When I roll them for her, she seems to smoke less, too. I couldn't stand to watch her spend all the money she needs for rent and food on her nasty cigarettes.
Try that, straight cigarette smokers. Roll it up.
EDIT: The benzine and all that crap isn't even a preservative or desiccant- it's just there for flavor!!!
