well maybe your problem was that you needed a bronchiodilator (sic) like cannabis to open up your airway....I usually huff a bowl and do my 5mi run with ease....

it relaxes you. some people say they can breathe better after toking lol!
chances are you were just relaxed, throat relaxed causing you to cough less? or take your mind off it. i aint no doctor but thats what id say.

Pretty sure this guy knows what hes talking about.

I also have this phlegm in my lungs from being sick, and I smoke a few bowls and cough most of it out pretty easy.

It could also be a coincidence. 2+2 equals 5 all too often so unless the pattern is repeated consistently its hard to say really :-)

Smoking heavily (whether it's cigs or weed) will fuck up your cilia, which are little hairs that protect the cells in your lungs and airway and catch debris and whatnot on the way down. They regenerate quickly when you're not smoking, so when they're back in action and doing their job, it will feel like there is something wrong, but it's actually a good thing...

There's probably more to it than that and I don't think weed and cigarette smoke have the same effect, but that's the jist of it.

Yea I have been sick for about 2 days and I noticed that after taking a few rips when it was bugging me the most I started being able to cough up more and more of the phlegm until today where my cough is pretty much non-existent. However I can't leave out that I was also coupling this with Chai tea and honey (mostly for the sore throat tho) It's almost as if because you naturally inhale marijuana smoke deeper it causes a deeper more productive cough and literally projects the phlegm from your respiratory system. (Just be careful where you aim)

Like stated earlier MJ will open your airways, and MJ smokers have higher lung capacity than cig smokers and even non-smokers.

Now one of the only down sides with MJ is that you have less oxygen in your blood therefore aerobic respiration is much harder.

Unless your special and can effectively respire anaerobically, then it is more 'tiring' to exercise high.

I already have shit stamina as it is, so exercising high is hard, but I just won't do much sober, I'm one of those people that gets high before everything they do, i wish i could do some activities sober but I simply get too bored/don't have the motivation when sober.

Smoking anything isn't the best for you, especially when you have a cough, but vaping would be much better and might even help with a cough.

I have a chronic cough due to lung problems. If I smoke marijuana, it's irritating to my lungs and makes me really cough hard for a few minutes, but it does open and relax the airways (better than albuterol) and cures the cough.

My problem is that I don't like to be high. It would be nice to have it without the high effect. Edibles work for cough also, it just takes longer to take effect.

I told my Stanford Medical Center lung doctor that marijuana works better than anything for cough suppression (I've tried it all) and he was intrigued by my comment.

I suffer from a cough myself that usually recurs after I come down from a bud high but bud always clears it up. As said a bronchodilator, which is used to suppress a cough, can help and cannabis is one. I take cannabis for PTSD and have my card but I will be honest it helps me with so much more than just that. Right now I am taking a break from smoking because of being sick but edibles are a huge help to control the cough while I'm taking my break. It means I don't have to take OTC chemicals. It manages all the symptoms from the cough to fatigue and sore throat and headache to lack of appetite. But I digress. It does in fact help, especially when taken as edibles. What ti does is relax the bronchos and your body which is the cause of your cough. So it is, in fact, helping your cough.
