Does Size Matter ? (res question - DWC)

To anyone who really knows, from experience please. I am growing 6 plants in 6 individual homemade 3 gallon DWC bubblers. The water in each res is about 2.5 gallons. If I got some of those rubbermaid storage things from walmart ( 5, 10 or 45 gallon) how big would you go, capacity wise for each plant. Would a 10 gallon one carry two or three plants ? I have been using BMO SPT, and my roots are filling the whole res of my DWC bubblers, so I have to go up in size. The plants have about 2 weeks before I switch them to flowering, so time and capacity is running out. I got to do something quick. Would 5 gallon buckets, from Home Depot be better ? Any and all, intellegent responses will be appreciated.

As a rule of thumb, 5 gallons per plant. (A 20 gallon container could support 4 plants. A 10 gallon would support 2 plants, etc.)

Thanks Outlaw Thats what I was needing to know. I don't have a grow book and have always grown in soil. The DWC thing is new, but seems to working out. I don't have all the hydro tools yet. I just dump um every week and put in fresh water & nutes. Thats probably a waste, but seems to be working. I was given a couple of half empty bottles of Earth Juice, because they were clogging a friends setup. I used up the last of them and now I' using some BMO Grow stuff with some SPT. It seems to working just as good, but my rootball is just busing out. This is just really a test of the whole hydro thing for me. If it proves to be too time consuming, tricky or expensive, I'll go back to soil.
