I hope you didn't put "a lot of cash" into those two junk lights.... Those things are pretty much worthless for anything other than seedlings.
Good quality white lights are the way to go, not that blurple shit. Look into COB's (Citizen, Vero, Luminus), Quantum Boards (HLG) or Strip LEDs from Samsung or Bridgelux.

How big is the space? Can you give us a link to the 300 W panel you are purchasing?
Height and coverage are linked, the higher you place the light the larger the area of coverage, however you are dividing the same amount of photons (light) over the larger area, meaning that each square foot will receive less light overall.
Inversely drop the light down to reduce coverage and increase photon count.

To be honest i had a 300w led from viparspectra which i sent back to get the 600w version which i sent back again to purchase a cob light vero 29 from bud tech. Trust me mate, trichomes start to appear at the 3rd or 4th day! You will be surprise how good it will be to swap and invest that "a lot of cash" you were talking about!

No, like I said, they are ok for seedlings, but you need some serious wattage for veg. 30-35 Watts (actual wattage not "rated" watts) per square foot.
