Dolomite lime vs bottled calmag?

Buddy of mine has been adding 1 cup of dolomite lime per 3 gallons of FFOF for the past few of his grows, apposed to using bottled cal-mag. I myself use bottled cal-mag like I'm sure most other people do. I was wondering if there are any additional benefits to using the dolomite lime amended to your medium versus bottled? Or any additional problems it could cause as well.

Any input is appreciated in advance as always :bigjoint:

I routinely add garden lime to my used Pro Mix. It’s slow release of calcium and magnesium. I add a cup in every 5 gallon bag. I still see issues occasionally with some strains about 3-4 weeks in flower. So I supplement with cal mag the first couple of feeds after flipping.

Im going to pick some up and start amending it to FFOF, do you recommend the powder or the granular? Or does it not matter lol
