Don't post and entice with a + REP, you're just pissing everyone off!!!!

Man, people here give some shitty advice and get mad rep for doing so. Then there are people that may have more "rep" and dont even acknowledge those with less rep that in some instances, know more about growing than they do. Another thing I am pretty damn sure that happens are people just creating secondary accounts and rep-ing their own posts to hell and back to make themselves seem hella awesome and shit...Whatever. In the end, this is just some major BS time distraction anyway so if the green bars under your name mean so much to you then you go get them green bars!

Yep. I earned all my rep by answering questions, my post history can prove it.

Without a doubt, we like the weed so we are all part of a sub-culture family. I love this site for good and bad and I would be here just as much whether someone hit me with a +rep or not. I just think it's silly to try to throw out a +rep to get your question answered. Some questions don't get answered when the question pertains to something that has already been covered over and over again in different threads. I have posted question like that were never answered and I finally figured out why.

That being said, I also think it is very cool to give a +rep for doing a good thing for someone. My point behind this thread is that offering +rep for an answer or expecting a +rep for giving an answer is fucked up. That's all I have to say about that.

There is only one member here that if I find myself unsure of something I will ask him a question and normally that is in a PM. I cannot say I have never asked a question but I can say the overwhelming majority of questions I have asked were for more information about questions people were asking so they could then receive better advice. I can also say that what few questions I might have asked where not the usual often repeated, what seedbank is best, what seedbank has the best prices, what seedbanks delivers to the U.S., who is the best breeder, is breeder 'x' good, which strain should I grow, how much will I yield, should I pick feminized beans, what's the best autoflower, is this a male or is this a female, what lighting should I use, what light cycle should I be using, are HID lights better than CFL lights, are LEDs any good, what light spectrum should I be using, how far off the tops of my plants should my lights be, are light leaks really big problems or not, should I remove my fan leaves, how do you top, how do you clone, how do you do SCROG, shouild I lillipop, what are low odor strains, how much electricity will I use and will it raise a red flag, how about odor control, do I need to do something about it and if so what do I do, what pH level should I have, what are the best ferts, is Miracle Grow soil good, are my plants ready to be harvested and if not how much longer do I have to wait, when I harvest should I cut the plants and hang them whole, how long do I dry, is curing worthwhile, how long do I cure, SHOULD I BOIL THE ROOTS OF FRESHLY HARVESTED PLANTS TO DRIVE THE THC UP FROM THE ROOTS INTO THE BUDS .. and many, many others etc, etc, etc, etc.

I have never asked questions like that but I have seen them asked repeatedly, sometimes as much as four or five times in a single day in different threads, and it gets very old answering them when a simple search will give the person near countless threads on the same questions and filled with answers.

Been my observation that folks asking for rep (or expecting it) to answer a question are not the folks I want answering my question, they aren't here to help.

Hey Sour, not meant to be the demeanor, just sick of the immature behavior of those trying to get their questions answered with the "+Rep" bone dangling out there. I will always go out of my way not to answer those threads. By the way, is your avatar a picture of a turd or is that weed?

I wish things like +rep, and like one site I was a member of called it mojo, was never invented. It turns places into a junior high school atmosphere where popularity is uber-important.

Too often +rep is given for spreading the current most popular fad or myth or telling someone about the current low quality genetics that for some inexplicable reason has become the flavor of the month strain or for agreeing with someone who gave terrible advice and in doing so validating their misinformation rather than being given only for someone having given sound advice.

I wish the system would be done away with.

That of course sounds logical but when someone has answered the very same question a hundred times or more, eventually you grow tired of answering it, especially when you know the answer can be found using the search function. Some days you can see the exact same question asked two, three and four or more times by different people in different threads. It gets old answering them all.

Google is another good source to find answers to questions. There are numerous 'how to' grow books that can be found, and read for free, online. More people should take advantage of them rather than asking the same question that has been asked hundreds and hundreds of times already one more time.
Amen to that Brick Top!!!!

I think this should explain the Rep system, well at least the Theory behind it......it's all a big ploy. https://www.rollitup.org/toke-n-talk/311100-your-life-game.html (and if that doesn't work - http://www.bannerblog.com.au/news/2010/03/your_life_is_a_game.php )

There are people who openly admit in Post a funny pic thread, (and they have "Rep beyond repute"), who have never posted a pic of any plant, or answered any questions relating to the growing of MJ....

I just take the Rep system as something, or a way for someone to say a little extra thanks, or a personal Hello, or Peace, or just passing on good vibes but in a more personal way. Take it how you want it, if the Rep systems bothers you you obviously care about it more than you think......

Peace to all smokers and growers alike

The most amount of rep I ever recieved at once was for telling a mod that his cat looked cute in toke and talk. Conversely, helping out noobs with their entire setup tends to gain a single rep point, if it even registers at all. Rep is meaningless.
