Dont think i need to be worried but, what is this!

I did read the stickys on top, one of them the picture links do not work anymore so was not very useful. The other I don't think I could find symptoms that matched.

There is a brown dot on one leave and on 2 other leaves there are crinkles forming where the fan leaves meet. Again I am not too worried right now since the symptoms dont seem to be spreading to new growth, but I would like to know what it is so I can prevent it from happening again or fix it if it gets worse. Thanks in advance!

My plants crinkle when new leaves are starting to get done growing. The crinkle at the base of a big new leaf is normal.

Thank you both for the replies. yeah not too worried yet, just wanted to know if was normal so good to know :)

FFOF is soil and I PHed the feed to 6.0; I will be PHing the soil on next watering

how old are your plants?

Age? Indoor or outdoor? Are you feeding them?

FFOF is a hot nutrient mix...loads of organic nutes...and I made the mistake on my first grow by throwing a clone directly into FFOF, and I roasted it.

Since we have little to no information to go on, it's hard to help. If you fill this out with AS much info as you have...and then the thread can really get going:

Soil Growers:
1. Are you growing from seed or clones?
2. How old are your plants?
3. How tall are your plants?
4. What size containers are they planted in?
5. What is your soil mix?
6. How often do you water and what type of water do you use?
7. What is the pH of your water?
8. What kind of fertilizer do you use and what is its NPK ratio?
9. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything?
10. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights")
11. How close are your lights to the plants?
12. What size is your grow space in square feet?
13. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space?
14. What is the pH of the soil?
15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space?
16. How much experience do you have growing?

Hydro Growers:
1. Are you growing from seed or clones?
2. How old are your plants?
3. How tall are your plants?
4. What type of hydro system are you using?
5. What brand/type of nutrients are you using?
6. What is the Ph of your nutrient solution?
7. What is the PPM/EC of your tap water?
8. What is the PPM/EC of your nutrient solution?
9. What is the temperature of your nutrient solution?
10. Does your PPM/EC show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check?
11. Does your pH show a rise or fall when you do your daily check?
12. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything?
13. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights")
14. How close are your lights to the plants?
15. What size is your grow space in square feet?
16. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space?
17. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space?
18. How much experience do you have growing?

IME, FFOF isnt really that "hot" at all. I always see people saying this but I have never had a plant burn in OF. I have started seeds and clones in it. Most of the time, the burn happens when people add fertilizer unnecessarily.

I wouldnt sweat the little brown spot. If it isnt spreading, I would just monitor it. Trying to chase down nutrient issues always seems to lead to more problems.

I would say the same for pHing water. The soil is an excellent buffer and allows the plant to handle a pretty wide range of pH. Using solutions to change pH is really only necessary in soilless media and when fertilizer causes extreme fluctuations.

FFOF is a great soil and can sustain a plant for at least a month. I always start with nutrients around then but I would be willing to bet the soil could provide for the plant longer than that.

Unless your tap water is off the charts, I wouldnt bother trying to adjust the pH.

And I concur with the other poster who mentioned the crinkling of the leaves being a result of new growth crowding. Noting to be worried about.

Hey... I think, since that brown dot seemed to be on the bottom leaf...
Maybe some soil just splashed up when you watered/fed...
Or, maybe it just rested on soil for a bit when you grew...
Or maybe you added a little soil, or re-potted it...
Brown specks, on a otherwise healthy plant....
You're fine...
What did you do one week before you saw it?
Good Luck...

Too much heat will manifest itself as brown, burnt tips on your leaves...
And then the leaves will crinkle.... turn yellow/brown and die...

Thank you very much ALL for your replies I will try to answer all the questions so we can properly diagnose her symptoms. You can also go to my grow journal in the signature to see how the plants progresses to the point where the symptoms manifested.

I noticed another spot on a top leave, crinkles are now happening on top leaves AND noticed new symptom. New pics are below, it was bittersweet looking at her this morning. I got very excited cause confirmed she was a girl as I saw her first pistils, but saw the additional symptoms. I'm so sad for her :(

Soil Growers:
1. Are you growing from seed or clones? Seed
2. How old are your plants? 20 day from sprout
3. How tall are your plants? 6 inchs (growing fast now!)
4. What size containers are they planted in? 3 gallon smart pots (no transplanting as they are autoflowering)
5. What is your soil mix? Fox Farms Ocean Forest 70% and 30% perrlite
6. How often do you water and what type of water do you use? I used PH'd tap water that I let sit out overnight to evaporate the chlorine. As for often, I water when the soil is dry not on a set schedule. 5 days ago was probably the first time I truly soaked the medium. Today soil is still slightly moist about 3 inches down, will most likely water tomorrow night. I am getting a moisture reader and a scale so I will be watering at perfect time in the future.
7. What is the pH of your water? 6.0
8. What kind of fertilizer do you use and what is its NPK ratio? I am using the Fox Farm Trio. I have fed one time, quarter strength week 2 feeding schedule (Grow Big and Big bloom), It was actually less than quarter strenght because when I didnt get run off I watered an addtional 1.5 quarts so its more like 15% strength.
9. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything? No
10. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? CFL 12x 23 watt in DIY reflector
11. How close are your lights to the plants? were 2 inches but felt canopy was getting too hot moved to about 3.5 today and added fan to blow on upper side of cfl bulbs in reflector today
12. What size is your grow space in square feet? 2.6ftx2.6ftx5ft
13. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space? Ambient temp 68 - 77 (canopy 73 to 82 hopefully lower now) humidity is 38% to 55%
14. What is the pH of the soil? Do not know, this is a huge problem. If you read my journal you will see last time I watered over a gallon with NO run off. So I could not PH the soil, I bought a soil PH testing kit and soil PH probe which should be coming Tuesday. I am watering tonight or tomorrow and will not stop watering until I see run off. Its the first watering after my first feeding so I want to clear the salts. I have some white stuff on one of the sides of my smart pot am not sure if it is salt build up or roots coming through the pot.
15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space? none so far
16. How much experience do you have growing? 20 days :p aka this grow!

Thank you for the post and your experience with FFOF. Seems to me like there is actually an overabundance of information about growing, that sometimes you read something and think it applies to all types of grow (like phing your water). I more or less found out PH of water in soil grows mean jack its about the PH of the soil. So I will be not be PHing my water unless it is going crazy, but its about a 7 and I have been PHing it down slightly. this could actually make the soil more acidic which can cause the nute defs.

This all could of happened, didn't think about soil or nute water splashing up. As stated in original post, i'm not too worried about the symptoms (yet they do make me sad, but I get sad easily hence the name) but want to know what they are. I am anal and a self proclaimed perfectionist so hate these types of things! Again thank you so much for your post, it was reassuring :)

Hey sad face, your plants look just fine bro. Your being pretty anilytical with them my man. I hope you dont get mights or mildew or somthing serious bro cause this aint really anything to worry about. From what i know of ffof is that you can feed at a lower ppm because the soil has alot of nutrition for your babies already. Pm me tommorow. I think i have somthing that could help you with your ffof.
