dont understand how to get power to lights.

ahh cheers guy for the help. think i may have found a way from the "buds for less" book.
bit of a diy job but it seems fairly simple and looks like it will make sense
 
it would take a an additional adapter to make it work but the cost would sirmount the benifit better off buying a real grow light at this point

that runs on 120v lol 240v/uk light sockets are diffent then a us light socket

you mean the light bulb socket or do you mean the wall outlet? You have ungrounded type D outlets in the UK, one wire is Hot, one wire is neutral, one wire is ground. Amazingly enough the wall sockets in the US have 1 wire that is hot, 1 wire that is neutral and 1 wire that is ground and amazingly enough electricty in the states follows the same rules of physics as electricity in the UK. You can go to your local store and buy a 240v vanity fixture and wire it right up to an extension cord in the UK, its not rocket science.
